Why not? I don’t remember him being that bad when he filled in for Ron Wilson on Ten’s news.

I don’t remember Karl Stefanovic filling in on Ten News Sydney, when would this have been?

Even though he might’ve been OK at news reading/reporting some 15-20 years ago, it seems highly unlikely that any Australian TV network would be massively interested in picking up Karl these days.

1998-1999 when he was reporting and presenting for Ten News Brisbane. Ten brought him down a few times to present with Jessica Rowe when Ron Wilson was on leave.

There is a You Tube video of him presenting a Ten News Brisbane bulletin and I do recall there being video of him presenting with Jessica Rowe but can’t seem to find that one.

How long has Melissa Mallet been with 7 Melbourne?

It’s interesting because isn’t Lee Anderson the news director or EP at HSV now?

Rick presenting solo in Perth away from the usual studios.

What’s giving you the impression she’s working for Seven? Everything I’m seeing points to her still being Townsville based and only visiting Melbourne? I’d be surprised if Seven re-hired her after she was sacked from Seven Queensland.

Today marks five years since Ian “Roscoe” Ross sadly passed away.

No one will forget the impact he made on Seven News in Sydney, turning it from one of the lowest-rating bulletins in the market to the highest-rating within two years.

…and nobody will forget how Seven News Sydney failed to support Chris Bath as their main newsreader in the same way they supported Ian Ross.

Sometimes, I wonder what Roscoe would think about the bulletin in its current state if he was alive today.

IMO Seven management went for style over substance when they appointed Chris Bath to replace Ian Ross at the end of 2009. I think the alarm bells were already ringing in her first week following Roscoe’s retirement when she lost Wednesday to Peter Overton on Nine.

I personally think Chris Reason would’ve been a better appointment, given his experience in filling in on Seven News Sydney and national bulletins (which he continues to do these days), as well as his short Sunrise stint in 2002 before his cancer diagnosis gave way.

Yeah, I actually disagree with that. Especially since Seven decided to have Mark Ferguson alongside Chris Bath in a majority of the promos which ran during 2010-13, with extremely Mark Ferguson-centric promos (with rarely a sight of Chris Bath, later Melissa Doyle and now Michael Usher) since the presenter swap in January 2014.

Then there’s the news/sports presenter banter. Chris & Jim (who really should’ve been together on weeknights for longer than 12-18 months or so IMO) in particular, almost gave Pete & Ken on Nine (who of course were good in their own right) a run for their money! These days, Pete & Cam are way better than Fergo & Mel McLaughlin who’s banter always seems to be extremely awkward!

Unusual for Sharyn Ghidella to come back from holidays on a Tuesday night? Maybe it’s because 9 seem to be consistently having some wins again against 7 in Brisbane. Maybe she was rushed back…

Nobody noticed that there was a new traffic reporter (who if I’m not mistaken, had their very first appearance on TV this afternoon) during today’s Melbourne Edition of Seven Afternoon News?

And yes I know that it was a selection made by the Australian Traffic Network rather than Seven themselves, but these things can still become a major part of the brand - just ask a particular Sydney TV news service and how their main choice of a traffic reporter has been strongly associated with them for at least 15-16 years now!

Meet the team.
