Seven News Presenters and Reporters (2015-Sept 2020)
No doubt they’ll get some brain dead bimbo from the gossip pages of the Herald-Sun to take her place.
To be honest, they don’t really need someone to replace her. Nick Etchells and Jacqualine Felgate will fill-in for Jen and Michael Felgate and Michael Scanlan will replace her as Sunrise correspondent. Certainly a missed opportunity for Seven News Melbourne, Sunrise and Seven News Sydney. :joy: (Can’t wait to se her on Nine).

Well it’s a surprise that Bec lasted as long as she did with Seven, how much longer did they think she would wait for a permanent on air role.Over the years constantly over looked for high profile permanent roles.
Perfect timing this year with vacant role at Nine she will shine in this hosting role, as a football lover and No 1 Geelong ticket holder she knows her football.
Seven losing a big Melbourne Talent!

Huge Melbourne loss for Seven.

They laid the groundwork with her across the network - plenty of experience, heaps of varying news roles - but unfortunately they completely missed the boat in finding something permanent for her.

Unfortunately for Bec - Seven Melbourne is Pete and Jen - neither look to be going anywhere soon.

Afternoons aren’t really the place to be - either is the Sunrise correspondent role.

Today Tonight is long gone - and if its coming back, its not going to be for a long while yet.

Nine have picked up very well - and they have the positions ready to suit someone of Bec’s calibre. Best of luck to her at Nine.

Jacqueline Felgate, regular presenter of Melboune’s Afternoon News. I wonder what’s happening at Martin Place for the studios to be empty. Technical problems?
A reliable source told me that it was “only a one off” and all will be back to normal tomorrow.

Don’t act like you have special inside sources at Seven, mate, just tell it how it is. You asked Jacqui on Twitter and she replied to you. No more, no less.
Still a reliable source , a very reliable at that, isn’t it? I originally wrote Jacqui but changed it, make me feel important.

Seven have treated Rebecca like shit for years. She should’ve had a permeant presenting role at the network by now. They couldnt even offer her the weekend sunrise gig back in 2013/14, after she was taken off the afternoon news once again. I wish her well at Nine.

2006 Taken off the 4.30 news (Shafted for Mike)
2013 Should have been offered the Today Tonight role (instead opted for Helen)
2013 Teken off the Afternoon News (Shafted for Mel)
2014 Should have been offered the Weekend Sunrise role ( instead opted for Monique)
2015 Should have been offered the Local Afternoon Melbourne News. (instead opted for Jacqueline)
2016 Should have been offered the Weekend Sunrise role ( instead opted for Angela)

That’s a huge shock. No wonder Bec was absent from last week’s Good Friday Appeal. Big loss to Seven.
Bec has tweaked her Twitter handle from rebeccamaddern7 to rebeccamaddern9.

Congratulations to Bec and Nine!
Late News? Melbourne weekend bulletin?
Going to be weird adjusting to “This is 9 News with Rebecca Maddern” :stuck_out_tongue:

Nine’s payback for losing Jacqueline Felgate to Seven two years ago? :stuck_out_tongue:
Jacqueline Freegard at the time. A much BIGGER payback if you say so.

You’re not the only one on this site to claim inside knowledge for having your questions answered on Twitter, but don’t make a habit of it.

I wonder what’s happening at Martin Place for the studios to be empty. Technical problems?
Coincidence or not, Ann Sanders is away this morning and Robert Ovadia is anchoring. Plus no whideshot and the use of Seven News Sydney V/O, “Live from our Sydney Headquarters, this is Seven News”. I also noticed this week, no OTS are used on the national bulletin and the morning news is not announced in the V/Os instead the usual one is " This is Seven News with Ann Sanders".

If we look at that 2004 Seven News Melbourne promo, where the graphics and camera angles spin around Peter Mitchell, Jennifer Keyte, Rebecca Maddern, Norm Beaman, David Brown, Mike Amor & Mark Reilley…

Many have now gone from 6pm News.

No Norm, No Brownie & No Bec. Stalwart Nick McCallum only used for a handful of stories now (at least he still does Anzac Day).

So that’s why Bec didn’t feature in the Good Friday appeal.

I remember Bec also filling-in for Kylie Gillies many times on The Morning Show.

Not since 2013 though (when she took over from Nick Etchells as Sunrise Correspondent).

Wow, didn’t expect Bec to leave Seven! All the best for your new venture I say :)grinning:

Ann was back on for the afternoon news
