pretty sure at one stage every city had that set, so must have 5 at once at some stage?
The sunbeam name came from the fact that the desk looks like a sunbeam iron
They all had the same set in 2010 (unless you count Sydney getting a screen in their desk partway through the year) - at the start of 2011, Sydney got their sunbeam desk, while Adelaide got a different set.
Yes, it was discussed here not too long ago that every state had the same set at some point in 2010. Perth didn’t receive another state’s set.
Let’s hope they can indeed get the Melbourne set. The greenscreen is truly shocking.
Adelaide essentially stripped their twisted metal set and desk back to the bare bones and then tacked on gaudy perspex louvres.
Confident this still wins the award for ugliest Seven News set of all time, Perth chromakey included. It existed for 4 years too long.![]()
I’m getting retro Hungry Jacks vibes from that, which is good… if that’s the theme they were trying to achieve…
Adelaide sure has had some ugly sets. Nothing beats Jo Hall standing against a green screen on GTV 15 years ago.
Yeh 9 Melbourne had some very basic sets all the way up until the one before the current one.
Think it’s way too early to judge what happens next at 7.
Remember the under water set HSV7 used around 2005?
Also ABV2 came from a green screen for some time in the late 2000s.
The usual local Melbourne midday bulletin today for Good Friday, Karina Carvalho presenting.
Kate Massey on Sport.
Looks like a great bulletin from Melbourne.
The Melbourne bulletin started at 6.09pm.
All the 3:20 starting matches have finished late this year. Maybe it’s time to start 3:15pm but last year the matches seems to finish early too
They did 3:15pm in 2012 after the then new broadcast deal came into effect, however, at the start of 2013 it was pushed back to 3:20pm, presumably so matches could finish as close to 6pm as possible.
However, I doubt there is much of an issue with the match running into the news - they can drop a few RVOs if needed, or drop one or two puff pieces than can be shown another night. In fact, Seven is probably happy with the later finishes as it gives their bulletin a high lead in audience that would have missed the start of Nine’s bulletin.
Guys, do we think it possible the old Seven Melbourne set could be shipped to Adelaide?
I still thinks in good condition.
They don’t want your hand-me-downs.
Maybe donate it to 10 Melbourne ![]()
Aka the desk that looked like an upturned iron.
BTQ’s recently departed set surely wins that award. They went from twisted metal to a whole bunch of backlit prints that looked like something from a cheap US regional affiliate in 2003.
