What do we think?

Massive downgrade IMO. The Melbourne set, despite its flaw with the desk position  looks classier than the blocky Sydney set. I hate how sharp it all looks.

It’s basically a replica. But like Brisbane, it looks so bare. It really needs something on the floor, especially under the desk; a riser, or even some glossy elements just to break it up.

Agree. It’s very, here’s a screen and here’s the desk. That’s all.

Not a fan. They should have kept the frames from the old set and there does need to be something under the desk. It’s poor man’s Sydney.

Is this supposed to be a national rollout or something for 7? I wonder when HSV7 will launch the new set

I like it - but then I like the Sydney set.

But seriously, where’s the riser? Or at least some paint (which the ABC has used to great effect in Parramatta).

Still miles ahead of Brisbane’s dismal efforts.

Very bland and boring Seven.

And as others have said. It’s currently a downgrade from what they have at BCM.

I like it. Pity about the riser -or lack there of, but still very solid.

I’ll reserve final judgement until it debuts.

Considering they haven’t even got computer monitors in the Newsroom, i hope we might see a riser under the desk.

Also doesn’t look like much standing room on the riser around the video walls.

Crossed with Brisbane.

Guys. I don’t think we will see a riser or standing platform.

I think this might be a shared set with sport. Meaning they just move the desks in and out.

The first thought I had about the new Melbourne set is that it is exactly identical as the Sydney set, as also happened in 2012 when HSV replaced the twisted metal set with a near-exact replica of the set ATN unveiled in February 2011.

Hypothetically, it is therefore possible that the midday news could come out of Melbourne, if/when required.

Probably already has you wouldn’t know

Fingers crossed they send the BCM set to Perth. Adelaide’s had some Sydney hand-me downs, QLD got Brisbane’s old desk, it’s the west’s turn now!

What are we at now, a decade of botched chromakey?

Heck, let’s go all in and send the Gold Coast set to Bunbury for Regional WA while we’re at it! Upgrades for the entire state! :love_you_gesture:

Makes me cringe every time the robotic cameras jolt on air rather than starting movement prior to the shot.

Rick and Sue usually have chroma fuzzing on their sides and the desk is often transparent.

Their rendering software is clearly not up to scratch and often OTS GFX are very distorted or stretched as a result.

They’ve got plenty of room at TVW - build a physical set for the literal longest serving news duo.
