Seven News Content and Appearance

Currently, Seven Melbourne (BCM) have memorabilia for the The Balibo 5 and The 1982 Helicopter Crash located in their foyer. It also shows staff that you’re working for a legacy media outlet that’s been around for 70 years. It provided a bit inspiration.

I think the main issue is Seven deciding to make two average sets rather than invest in one fully multipurpose set (again, like BBC News studio B) that’s better for news and sport variety programs. Surely it’s cheaper to maintain one set?

Very similar with STW in Perth when they moved to the CBD in 2016. Lots of Dianella history throughout the office.

Two neighbouring buildings gutted and renovated with a purpose-built studio space added out front.

It’s modern but pays respect to their heritage and feels fit for purpose.

Such a shame how our Aussie networks have all abandoned newsroom studios/windows.
Seven Melbourne could’ve really taken advantage of that up till now. At least their newsroom live cross still had that window between the studio and newsroom.

I think this leaves 10 Sydney as the only station left.
A shame that 7 Adelaide covered their newsroom window.

7 Regional WA too. Looks shocking in its current form. Should’ve added some decor to the newsroom to make it more appealing on camera before covering it with a shocking lightbox.

Newsroom or streetscape backdrops are not in anymore. Shame.

So many missed opportunities with these new builds. A newsroom/glass studio set in the new 7 Melb would’ve looked great given how long the room is and with the control room at the end. I’m sure something would’ve been able to work in Seven Eveleigh. But I think the biggest disappointment is there being no proper setup in the new Nine Sydney newsroom, given they actually spent the money to fit it out. The old glass studio at TCN Willoughby was great, why wouldn’t you want to do that again at North Sydney? Sets that are just screens are boring and harder on the eye.

I miss the good old days too when all networks (in Syd and Melb) had very large studio spaces, and multiple large studios on site. These days, they are tiny. Calling Melbourne’s new broom closet as Studio 2 is a joke.

Brissy studios must be about the only originals left?

Might seem that way - yes production studios were huge, but news studios have always been pretty small.

So does this promo mean that Sarah Greenhalgh is returning soon to be part of these events?

At the end of the bulletin Max said, “Come and meet the news team.” Katrina added, “Looking forward to meeting you”..

Is this similar to what 9 did with The Shingle Inn?

Seems the free coffee forum today at Mt Gravatt was attended by Max and Samantha, with Anna McGraw there reporting.

Nice to see the master control pokie screens one final time! Well… somewhat updated since their days as the national backdrop

Are they starting from tomorrow night? Test the studio out for the weekend, or strictly 12th May?

Interesting that Bec used to share the same dressing room with Sonia Marinelli.
