But why on earth would you be privy to that information anyway?
I just saw the door sign in the Instagram clip above.
I thought there should have been enough space in the building for Bec and Sonia to each have her own room.
Iâd say Bec will be at the footy tomorrow so its her last day.
I was replying to your comment before you altered it. You sounded like you were shocked to learn it, as if it should be common knowledge. This is not something that is or should be, publicly declared.
There was a proper tour video mentioned in the broadcast facilities thread. It was on YouTube.
But Iâm not smart enough to post it in here ahaha
Monday is the day. Weekend news will be from BCM from the final time.
Journos and newsroom move starting tomorrow morning.
Adelaide version focusing on local news team:
Nice goodbye to Docklands from Peter Mitchell tonight.
I wonder if Nick McCallum (or maybe Peter Mitchell himself) might do a story on Saturday or Sunday on Docklandsâ history and the new move to Collins? At least an extended closer, perhaps showing the external facade with the trademark giant â7â upon bulletin closer would be nice. Hope something though, not just what we saw tonight (which was fine for tonight given thereâs still a couple of days left).
Maybe they could have a montage of big moments from the past couple of decades or so related to HSV? Be it broadcast/transmission/technical (such as 7Digital, 7HD and 7Two launches) or events (RCH GFA, Olympics and Australian Opens) or major shows/milestones (Blue Heelers 2004 bombing and new station/cast - plus the earlier live ep that season also had a pre special hosted by All Saintsâ Erik Thomson from in front of BCMâs MCR - although was Heelers actually still also coming from South Melbourne at this time too?)
And well done @blackbox.
Saw a âSave the Planetâ segment/ad with Tony Auden during a break in House of Wellness tonight. They were common during the 90s but havenât seen one for a long time.
Surely thereâll be something on Sunday
Mitchell, Sevenâs iconic Melbourne news anchor, has been the face of 7News since the very first broadcast at the Harbour Esplanade site in March 2002.
âThereâs a tinge of sadness about it for sure,â Mitchell said of the move.
âI take great pride in looking back and knowing that Iâve been the main guy in the history of 7News at Docklands. It has been my privilege to be the face of 7News Melbourne and to represent all our staff who work so hard during all hours of the day. Believe me, that is not something I ever take for granted.â
Peter Mitchell says viewers can expect a couple of subtle changes after the team moves.
He said Sevenâs viewers could expect some subtle changes from the new studio.
âThe first thing the viewers will notice is the clarity and crispness of our new screens, so our graphics will be better and brighter and the whole look will be much cleaner,â he said.
âThey will also notice that our new studio is much bigger, so when Iâm in the chair, youâll see that Jane and Bec have more walking to do.â
Would be interesting to know if the big red 7 out the front has been removed? Itâs pretty much an icon of Docklands. Would be good if they could have somehow worked it into the new location.
Fiona Byrneâs use of âfamousâ is a little bit much isnât it? Dorcas Street anyone?
Bless the âbig red 7â
Seriously though, I mean the Harbour Esp site is unlikely to change immediately is it? Often these buildings take ages to fully clean-up including permanent interiors and the external facade and landscaping donât they. Look at Epping (bad example perhaps given it was demolished eventually and re-developed), Jones Bay and Martin Place in Sydney for examples.
Wonder if they could negotiate with the new owner(s) to keep that logo there, out of sentimental value? Heritage listed maybe?
BCM isnât Bendigo or Docas Street. If Seven canât be bothered to invest in its own heritage, thereâs no way the state should be intervene with heritage protection.
Well, agreed, but not according to the âGossip Queenâ
It would be great if they could move it over to Collins Square. But I donât believe there is any space on ground level to accomodate it. Seven donât have naming rights to the building. They are currently a minor Tennent compared to Medibank who have a number of levels in the same building.
At the moment you wouldnât even know Seven is even in the building.
