2020 was a polarising year, but Seven News boss Craig McPherson has much to be pleased about.
I’m sure Queenslanders would have a thing or two to say about that…
Why?
Because the bulletin isn’t live up there, of course.
So? What are they going to say? “Live across NSW, Victoria, Tasmania, the ACT and delayed into QLD.”?
It’s gimmicky and doesn’t need to be said in the first place.
The daytime bulletins used to be so classy.
Agreed.
Something among the lines of “Good Afternoon, these are our top stories on Seven…” would be sufficient enough.
Happened in Melbourne as well. Oops.
It’s no different to American bulletins saying something like ‘live across the tri-state area’. Most viewers wouldn’t have thought anything of it.
Today’s 7 Gold Coast News will the last bulletin for a few days thanks to cricket. It will be back on Tuesday 22nd until Thursday but then go on a break on Christmas day.
Because the bulletin isn’t live up there, of course
They’re probably used to it during daylight saving.
But is the 4.00 bulletin not local anymore or has it just stopped for holidays.
Not local starting this week.
Lovely.
Can us Melbourne viewers please have the slick Sydney crew deliver our news?
I agree, Seven News Sydney is a much better product than Seven News Melbourne.
The only good thing about Melbourne’s bulletin tonight was that meteorologist Jane Bunn is not on holidays yet and was onboard for weather (and Jacqui Felgate is good at sport but personally I’ve come to prefer her on news rather than sport).
I think they should put a familiar face on weekends during summer rather than three relatively unknowns in Blake, Sean and Estelle.
spot on, banter doesn’t come naturally to these people and comes off so fake, they just shouldn’t do it
Not local starting this week
expecting local to resume in the new year or is this just quietly been snuck in when nobody’s looking?
Assuming that local will return in 2021.
Especially after declining ratings in Adelaide when their local 4pm bulletin was axed in July, then later reinstated, I reckon Seven have now realised the value in going local at 4pm.
Seven’s Director of News & Current Affairs Craig McPherson has a lot of things to say about the performance of 6pm bulletin (especially in South East Queensland), Sunrise and Spotlight specials and what viewers can expect to see in 2021.
