Seven News Content and Appearance

Adelaide had a special bulletin from Adelaide Oval at 5pm today, ahead of the main news at 6pm.

New promo with Sharyn and Max aired tonight in Brisbane.
Similar to some of the other states by the looks and fitting with their bus billboards.
Very crisp white background.

Promo graphics look good. Wonder if this is a sign of a refresh?

The graphics are so different from the on air appearance of the bulletin you would think SOMETHING has to be in the works. Not any blue in sight.

Not holding my breath.

Agreed. It’s not very brand consistent, but in saying that seven have done weird things like this in the past

I really like the white embossed logo. It’s a nice and simple background, but very classy.

So refreshing, not a shade of blue or addition of gloss in sight! That 3D 7NEWS logo is also very classy. :ok_hand:

To those who may of missed, Adelaide had their own version last month:

You’d hope so! I hope Seven finally realises they can use the red/white/black colour palette to their advantage compared to the overly used blue since 2004. I am optimistic, but 7NEWS often changes their promo graphics, so it’s hard to tell, but given the fact it’s been adopted to most states, maybe? :eyes:

Love the casual look of Max and Sharyn.

Those 3D logo shots would make great bumpers for the bulletins.

I really hope this turns into something, but we’ve seen Seven roll out one-off promos before that end up having no long-term impact.

The only indications I can see this being more than a one off is the fact that almost all markets have updated to the red only logo on Social Media (bar the National page), and I’ve noticed the 7Plus thumbnail relating to Prince Philip’s funeral coverage is also using the red only logo instead of the previous:

Again though, hard to say for sure given branding consistency isn’t one of Seven’s strong points. :man_shrugging:t3:

TBH, they reminded me of something from Sky News…

Example #1: The 2014 “Everywhere” campaign. The only new on-screen elements after that campaign were a shocking backdrop loop for Sydney plus that tacky “On Seven News Tonight/Seven News Starts Now/Welcome to Seven News” Opener style which thankfully only lasted about a year…

Very much unlike the recent 10 News campaign…

This campaign has a strong message and a very strong human. And emotional connection

It builds brand. Goodwill and community connection

Something 10 fails to do time and time again

This kind of campaign works, IMO

10 doesn’t really have a product to promote these days :man_shrugging:

Yea, news and marketing need to get together and work out what they want to be and position

The only thing I see worth promoting is 5pm

I don’t know what made it tacky. I think it made the opener a bit more punchier

As seen on 7 News Sydney’s Facebook.
