Opener & closer:
That opener is actually really good. What a shame they have to sit in a green box as their workplace.
Would be the perfect year to invest in the market and give them a physical set.
Video includes opener, 2 highlights packages and presentation at end of bulletin.
Some caps from the first highlights package that was serious news
2nd package was the lighter side
That special opener is great! Be great if they use it for a week or so not just one night.
Im so happy 7 are doing this right and giving them the fanfare they deserve.
I think they should keep it for the year. Perth loves nostalgia and that was a nice touch. It flows well and only adds a few seconds to the opener. It should stay there.
It’s giving very 2000s vibes. There was a Melbourne campaign years ago that had a VO .
“Excluive, after exclusive, after exclusive, seven news, it’s the best news you’ll get all day”
No matter how dubious the exclusives might be (one being their report on housing affordability), it’s a much better basis for a promo then being “Unstoppable”.
Rick and Sue’s special opener was played again tonight. Good to see. Hopefully it stays.
Sydney sports coming from the alternative studio. Or possibly from another building altogether as the afternoon news was presented by Jelisa Apps on the desk but Mel did 6pm.
When did 7 National News start? Accidentally came across it on 7plus.
Like three weeks ago or so.
Daily Mail is reporting Seven has officially dumped the 6:57 PM News and Mark Humphries, although he may still feature in election coverage
Inside Mail can reveal Humphries’ 6.57pm News skit has been dumped from the bulletin as the network doubles down on making every minute matter in what is already looking to be one of the tightest ratings races in recent history.
You know it’s bad when even the Daily Mail says that…

Unfortunately, no one was laughing when he started turning up during the news last September… which, as it turns out, is something of an issue when you’re a comedian.
The problem was the hirsute humorist wasn’t quite funny enough to convince younger audiences to trade TikTok for the boomer box, while older audiences were simply confused and thought they were watching the ABC by mistake. Had someone accidentally sat on the remote?
Also from that column and slightly off topic but interesting to note ex-7 Sydney news director Jason Morrison was the original pick to cover the ABC radio slot eventually and infamously filled by Antoinette Latouff. Was even booked months in advance.
