Not a good first day back for Mitch.

Just watched the Mike and Mitch interview on 7plus - super awkward. Mitch seemed almost nervous, which is surprising for someone who’s been a lead anchor for so many years.

That’s how he is though. He can’t adlib and is a autocue man.
Him and Jane are two of the most warlord media personalities I’ve ever met

Just watched it too, very awkward indeed.

Agree. He’s not the best but on this afternoon’s news he was worse than normal. It was like watching a work experience kid on air.

To save others trawling through 7+ to find it:

Was Mitch set up by staffers to fail sans autocue? Felt like watching an episode of Frontline when Mike didn’t have his reaction scripted.

I had it all ready to say… can’t be that bad. Just a bit of ad lib.

Wrong. That was… I don’t have words!

Jesus Christ, I know Mitch isn’t the best in ad-libbing situations, but that makes the banter between Mel and Fergo actually sound decent.

Actually this was the scene of Mike adlibbing I was trying to think of!

Maybe by Mike lol. It really threw him off asking about his holiday. Surely, they know ad-lib isn’t his strong suit. So why put him in situations like that?

Contract negotiation time?

WTF… is this shit…

It’s a positive and local news story to end the bulletin. They do this in multiple other states.

Is this the Sydney version of Sunnyside? The local news segment that they have in QLD?

Yes

Melbourne have the same segment, and Adelaide have it as well but it’s called “Ray of Sunshine”

Holy jesus… That is worse than I thought. Could barely string together a sentence.
