Also worth noting, during the 2002-04 era when Seven had the blue TV wall set, both the Morning News (which then aired at 10:30am) and Seven News Sydney used the exact same set, with no changes in the background. The Late News, which was axed in 2003, had a slightly darker background.

I get the idea of a different national backdrop than before which I appreciate over that hideous globe, but the new one looks like severe fog has hit Sydney or something.

Have they tweaked the lighting in Sydney? Looks a lot cooler to my eyes but maybe it’s just the backdrops.
For what it’s worth, I was always a fan of the 2016-2018 (I think) globe that stretched across all the screens:

The set actually look half decent with the graphics on screen and overshadows the otherwise underwhelming set design.
Looks like they’ve also subtly substituted the national skyline for the Adelaide skyline.

There is one problem with 7news Adelaide that I’ve noticed.
When the text moves across the backdrop screen behind the presenter, the text is glitchy and stuttery. It is probably a rendering or refresh rate issue. I hope it can be fixed.
Other then that these news graphic updates are a huge improvement to the otherwise dull set we have.
And guys, lets take a moment to thank the creators of these new graphics.
They’ve put a lot of time and effort into creating this fresh new look!

I actually like it.
If the lights that they turned off on the Brisbane set was lit up in white and the side panels were replaced with screens it would improve the set substantially.
It feels like every other city was prepared for this refresh in one way or the other and Brisbane was the only one caught out so they decided ‘Stuff this, let’s just turn this down so we can make it more ugly’.
So is “Breaking News” supposed to be on the top left or the bottom right?
Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane have only used it on the bottom right.

My thoughts on the new graphics:
Opener - OK. I think that the graphics should be moved over to the left side of the screen. It makes the right side of the screen look very cluttered compared to the rest. I LOVE the transition from the headlines to the set though. I would give it a 7/10.
Graphics - Pretty Good. I like the look of the ticker and how they made the rest of the graphics look different compared to the other networks. However, I think that they are WAY too bid, and need to be shrunken down a lot. They also need to align the graphics so the 7News logo watermark lines up the same with and without the graphics onscreen. The weather, finance and fuel graphics are great, but they cram too much locations onto the map during the weather, especially on the Melbourne bulletin. I think graphics are a 6/10.
Sets - REALLY Good. I really love most of the sets, especially the Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast and RQLD ones. The new paint makes them look like a whole new set, and a better one. The colours on the set make it look really modern and cool. I like the Perth set (not when the newsroom backdrop is on) but the Brisbane and Adelaide sets bring the rating down. Overall, the sets get an 8.5/10.
So overall, I really like it, but some aspects bring the number down. The new presentation overall would be an 7.2/10 for me. It is good, but some aspects need to be changed for me.

My eyes hurt looking at that. Can someone please just get them a wrap around screen for christ sake. Its just so shit looking.
I don’t think this update has improved or made things worse. Nine still leagues ahead.

So many things bug me about this from the use of red on both levels of the lower-thirds to the unnecessary black near-parallelogram box next to the oversized live bug.
