Seven News Content and Appearance (2020-Feb 2025)

That backdrop they’re using for early news is almost as horrid as the generic skyline Nine uses on national news.

If they don’t want the backdrop to be city specific, there are plenty of interesting skyline vista shots they could use without it being obvious what city they are in. I’m thinking of one particular view of Sydney skyscrapers I used to see from a bus on the western edge of the CBD but there would be views of skyscrapers in other cities that don’t reveal obvious location landmarks.

Early News backdrop should be a sunrise or something similar.

Or a newsroom backdrop?

Really not a fan of all the sliding glass panels on the backdrops, let the image do the talking - it’s all just far too busy and cluttered.

Also don’t like they’re still using those same story titles for the OTS shots, it’s all too angled.

Its the Adelaide early news, of course they want it specific.

“More Queenslanders get their news from Seven than any other source.” according to Seven.

If you add in regional figures, they probably wouldn’t be wrong…

Might be the case with TV but what about ABC radio across the state and social media like Facebook or on-line sources.

Healthy numbers for seven last night

That backdrop looks SO much better than the globe.

I never understood the anti-blue obsession some people here have since Seven News has been blue going back to the days of Seven National News and probably prior.

The red came in with the 1999/2000 graphics but they went back to blue with the 2004 package and with a couple of exceptions (like the twisted metal) most of Seven’s sets have been majority blue this entire time.

The blue background with the red 7 logo looked great. It always did.

With that said this isn’t a bad looking change. A few bugs to iron out but overall it looks good.

Sydney and Melbourne with their fancy sets had the easiest job of applying these changes and they look decent.

Brisbane did a good job of hiding the blue from their set. Obviously they are well overdue for a new one but they have done well with what they have.

Adelaide is looking better but as usual they have inconsistencies and someone there clearly has a thing for large background logos.

Perth mostly did ok incorporating the changes but that dark view of the newsroom with 7 logos on every monitor on the Morning News was terrible. They go straight from that to a bright “live” view of the city. Just use the city shot. Also the opener music cuts off too early. That will drive me nuts so hopefully they fix it.

The Queensland (local news) studio came out looking sharp once again. Full credit to whoever designed that set. It’s simple but it works. Slap some new paint on and it seems to work with every graphics change.

It looks like Gold Coast didn’t have to change much except lighting. Their little studio came out looking ok too.

I do agree with some others about the corner watermark/logo though. That constant red animation is obnoxious and unnecessary. That was fine before.

Overall each state has done ok with what they had to work with. I’m sure they will smooth things out as time goes on.

Bring back my early news globe backdrop, just do a white version. I hate the fake city skyline like nine uses, looks tacky. or like someone said, use a newsroom background.

The Morning Show gets the new weather graphics as part of news updates.

Apologies if these were already posted. I looked but didn’t see them anywhere.

TVW’s FuelWatch graphics were also updated. I feel like they should be made to look similar to the finance graphics but these don’t look too bad as they are.

I tried to last night, but was too slow to take a cap of the ‘FUELWATCH’ blocks without them rotating

The structures behind Ann Sanders on the skyline look very similar to some towers in Sydney, almost identical, for a “national” bulletin.
