Both lines dont need to be in bold weight either - put the top line in bold and the bottom line in regular weight
I am currently in Queensland and watching the condensed 30-minute bulletin that airs at 6.30pm.
One issue with the editing stuck out. Andrew Denney’s package on the teenager stabbed to death at the Easter Show in Sydney goes to air. As soon as it finishes, you see Sharyn Ghidella smiling/laughing gleefully in the studio (before previewing what’s coming up next).
Obviously segments have been moved around so Sharyn wasn’t actually laughing after the story aired, but still not a great look.
They frequently cut out live crosses off the back of packages, so there’s an awkward cut. They used to do a pre-recorded throw to the first ad break though, perhaps they’ve cut that with the new package?
Anyone got caps of the Queensland set tonight?
Looks like the lighting around the set has changed a bit.
This is the only cap I could find from the Gold Coast preview.
Today / Yesterday
Perhaps slightly brighter lighting on the white panels for 6pm though they looked darker at 4pm ![]()

Thanks for that!
Not a huge difference then, but the desk is lit up again and it looks like some of the lighter wall panels have their lights on now.
No, not huge on that lighting on the back walls.
Probably the biggest difference is the white border of the front of the desk.
I don’t understand why they’ve used such an outdated and low-res image in the Sydney titlecard.
The AMP Tower behind the Opera House is now a big white glassy jagged building which would have fitted into the new branding perfectly!
That’s awful! Why do they feel the need to tinker with the graphics?
These were made for Adelaide, not tinkered.
On another note, my favourite part of that is the red lights under the screen. Matches well.
They’ve just modified the background graphics they already had made. There are bits in there that don’t match any of the new templates.
Would be nice to see that “A D E L A I D E” text under the logo changed to look like the opener.
Watched 7News Brisbane live tonight and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the colours and set. Looks good. (But whiter white would still be good).
I think white borders on the side screens might help to lighten things up and give more consistency.
Each to their own but they need to bin the whole thing. A blackboard would look more enticing than the current slop they have.
Now that Seven’s got their graphics sorted, they should start thinking about sets. I reckon in an ideal world they should have Adelaide and Queensland copy Sydney’s setup whilst Perth copy/keys in Melbourne’s. Then use Sydney’s new set design at Eveleigh (whenever that will be) as a blueprint for a nationalised approach to sets.
Obviously I’d prefer consistent sets across the country, but given they’re working with what they currently have, I think it’s a huge improvement.
I just think they need to be careful not to have too much black on set and keep the reds more vibrant (but not jumping off the screen like 9s red), rather than too dull or blood red.
A polished turd is still a turd…
100% agree. The old flipping was pointless, the new transition is just flapping annoying. An animation in search of a point.
