What a joke for a ‘news’ organisation to broadcast something which is nothing more than glorified government propganda
This reminded me of Seven Afternoon News Queensland yesterday. Before the bulletin ends, either Sharyn or Bill join Kendall to promote what is coming up at 6. TBH, yesterday I thought Sharyn was still hosting the local edition of Today Tonight. 2/3 of the segment was consumer or current affair items. I would assume this segment is designed to promote the 6pm News not hinder someone from watching!
Pretty light news day - still taking about Taylor Swift !!!
A video of the first Saturday bulletin for the record. Also includes the transition to the 6pm bulletin. You will notice that 2 of the headline items in the Brisbane bulletin were also in the GC one. Paul Burt presented the weather on both bulletins.
Amanda couldn’t have said Good Evening at the start?
What does a set like that cost 75-125k?
If Seven can make the numbers make sense for a bulletin that reaches 600,000 people - why can’t Prime7 invest in a set that good a quality for Canberra - where it would serve markets in excess of 4 million people
Probably because 7 is a large TV network with a lot of money behind it, while Prime7 is just an affiliate company
I think that logic is a bit flawed. Prime Media is a huge media company with a market cap of $200m
The run stations serving Around 5 million - including the NNSW market which is the 4th largest - Bigger than Perth.
$125k for a set to set to service 52 weeks of news bulletins to markets in excess of 4 million people is not a huge investment.
“World’s best metro”? Seriously?
World’s shittiest news service.
WTF a news update just aired in Melbourne with the background showing the city at night when the sun hasn’t even set yet!
Happens all the time on TEN
The Melbourne inferiority complex might have had something to do with Seven deciding not to air the program across the entire east coast.
Seven wages Gold Coast news war on Nine as Taylor Swift arrives
The arrival of Taylor Swift and new beau, actor Tom Hiddleston, on the Gold Coast coincides with the launch of a new local news service by Seven last week and today’s spruce-up of Nine’s established local news bulletin.
Despite Seven’s reporting presence in the area, feeding stories into its 6pm Brisbane bulletin, Warren admits “the Gold Coast region has been playing a big role in the end result of the entire figures for Brisbane/Gold Coast”.
Don’t think there is any info in the article we didn’t already know.
May be interesting to note that despite much fan fare and a large win on Monday night, 7 Gold Coast News were unable to knock 9 Gold Coast News from their thrown last week in the Mon - Fri battle. Nine had a convincing win in the 5.30pm market.
RELAUNCH!!!
Edit: half a relaunch. New headline supers which are basic text to the left of screen with an underline and now foul OTS which are a step backwards from the last IMO
New transition graphics too which aren’t bad.
Supers are the same boring crap.
Very foul OTS indeed. No change to name supers.
The transitions look really good!
This is the OTS in Melbourne
I really don’t understand their obsession with adding the scan lines to everything! They date back to the old package 5 years ago and make everything look incredibly dated.

The transitions look really good!
Like the breaking news transition and , if the package is like what has appeared on Seven Local News, it is just another poor and irrelevant modification. The SLN headline supers look not too bad (not sure if it is the same on Seven News.
This is the OTS in Melbourne
Looks FAR better in Melbourne but aren’t the classy that is for sure. Seven Local News’ is more transparent with the blue barely visible.
