Seven News Content and Appearance (2015-2020)

And it seems like this time there will be NO Prime7 involvement.

The previous bulletin launched in 1998 was presented from Prime’s Southport studios, with Seven’s Melissa Downes and Prime’s Ian Buchanan as presenters. Unfortunately, Prime’s main newsreader back then, Kathy Bourke, was not offered any presenting role.

Prime aired the bulletin at 6.30pm, after Seven News Sydney.

I wonder if Prime7 Gold Coast will be able to seize upon the opportunity and finally decide to air Brisbane’s 6pm news every night rather than Sydney’s to please the current Seven Brisbane viewers who still want to watch The Chase at 5pm?

Let’s be realistic here, it’s unlikely that too many people watch Seven News Sydney on Prime7 Gold Coast apart from Gold Coast-based media enthusiasts or people who used to live in/are on holidays from Sydney/NSW so there probably wouldn’t be too many complaints if the Sydney news was dropped.

Gold Coasters could do almost anything here

Looks like they will have The Chase available to them at 4.30 and 5pm
Similarly, they have Hot Seat available at 5 and 5.30pm.
And 2 local bulletins at 5.30 with either Sydney or Brisbane news at 6pm (or even NBN if you really want that).

So you can mix n match

Start date is good too. Give it a month to settle, then there’s the Olympics which will no doubt give it a big boost.

Very comprehensive hourly updates on the SEQ flooding tonight by 7- Kay in the studio plus Patrick Condren and Paul Burt on location, Tony Auden updating weather.

I think that would get a big veto from 7 Brisbane.

Probably, but it didn’t stop SC TEN from being able to air the Brisbane TEN News 5pm bulletin on the Gold Coast.

Here’s a nice animated stop and check from TVW7 I captured with the news theme in the background:

What does that mean stop and check

The footage has finished, so check your recording to see if it’s recorded properly.

It means you stop. Then you check you’ve stopped. :stuck_out_tongue:

What i find strange about the whole GC Local News from Nine and now Seven is this - their peak hour is bloody atrocious, who the heck would be at home from work by 5.30 to watch these??

Everyone talks about how popular the GC news is on 9, and how it contributes to the Hot Seat numbers… I’d be interested to see some detail, i.e. of the Hot Seat numbers in Brisbane, how much is factually the GC news??

[/quote] I know it is one of the main reasons why Nine News Queensland is number 1 in SEQ so when you think about it, I am surprised it has taken Seen this long to implement one for the gold coast.

Many of those who straddle the border like the fact they have a choice of Sydney and Brisbane content. It would be silly to mess with that. There was backlash when SC Ten GC switched form the Sydney bulletin to the Brisbane bulletin. Having the choice was taken away but the decision was made due to viewers in the hinterland not being able to receive the Brisbane bulletin.

It still has the 2010 refresh graphics  How do you manage to capture these Stop & Check title-cards?

They’re from satellite feeds, if I’m not mistaken!

Hi Biscuit45. SydneyCityTV is correct. I capture them off satellite feeds – they come and go with no notice and the frequencies or even the satellite you need to point to are often different, so they can be elusive to capture.

That seems very odd?

If you can get SC10 from Tamborine, Currumbin or Springbrook then you should be getting TVQ Ten Brisbane from the same sites.

But what do the actual numbers look like?
Everyone says it makes the difference, but what proportion of the ratings are attributed to the GC?
