I miss read your post somehow I thought you meant today
The 2 hr news special will be shown on 7 in Perth
Realistically, wouldnât the two hour Seven News special bulletin only be airing on 7mate in Melbourne and Adelaide (due to the AFL coverage on the main channel) while Sydney/Brisbane/Perth get it on Seven?
No, the special bulletin is timed so it leads into AFL pre-match coverage at 2.30pm AEST (there are only two matches tomorrow, the second match starts at 4.40pm AEST). Melbourne has VFL on the main channel from 11.30am to 2.30pm.
Special backdrop in Melbourne tonight due to election being called. It actually looked really good. One of the better in recent times!
Sevenâs reporting of last yearâs Parramatta shooting won most outstanding news coverage at the Logies tonight. Robert Ovadia and news director Chris Maher accepted the award.
Robert Ovadia spoke very well.
Despite the bagging 7 News seems to get here, they have won quite a few Logies, as well as other awards, over recent years.
Their Walkley haul isnât impressive - thatâs the one that counts.
IMO, the Logie for Outstanding News Coverage needs to be based on a full year of news rather than just the coverage of one major event. If that were the case, I suspect Seven wouldnât be an award winnerâŚ
I didnât realise Chris Maher was News Dirrector. Isnât it Morrison and McPherson?
Yeah 7 might win all these Logies and everything, but 7âs Walkley haul (the one that counts as you say) is really unimpressive.
Walkley Award winners for tv news reporting:
2008 - 7 News Sydney
2009 - 7 News Melbourne
2010 - 9 News Canberra
2011 - 7 News Brisbane
2012 - 7 News Sydney
2013 - 7 News Sydney
2014 - ABC News Middle East Bureau
2015 - 7 News Sydney
6 of the last 8 won by 7news.
Impeccably researched, my friend.
That certainty came back to bite him on the arse
It does pay to do your research before Making comments on this forum
Says more about the Walkleys than anything else. Seven News is dire. Individual flashes of brilliance doesnât change that.
And it has to be said that the Logie and Walkley Awards for Best Television News Coverage are generally based on the coverage of just one major story, rather than the general day to day reporting of news spread across an entire year. If the Logie and Walkley Awards for Best Television News Coverage were based on an entire year of a media outletâs coverage, I somehow doubt that Seven News would be a consistent winner.
This really goes without saying but we should be seeing award winning level of coverage from Seven News (and to be fair, all media outlets) every day, not just when the big stories break!
Once again, Iâll try to refrain from any more commentary after this because itâs just too aggravating. It says more about the Walkleys? Boy, some of you will just say anything to mould facts into whatever conclusion youâve already reached regardless. Walkleys are the gold standard in journalistic achievement in this country, voted on by the industryâs most senior figures across all media. Those judgesâ opinions are slightly more relevant (and informed) than your baseless agenda-driven anonymous pot shots. In the past few posts alone, Iâve read -
Sure, 7 wins a lot of Logies, but itâs Walkleys that count and they donât win those.
(ummmm yeah actually, they win most years)
Yeah, but the Walkleys suck anyway.
(ummmm yeah actually, itâs the universal yardstick we have to measure journalistic achievement in this country)
Well okay, but the Walkleys only recognise individual flashes of brilliance. 7 would struggle if it were judged over a yearâs work.
(yeah, 7news sucks at all other times except for the times they get lucky)
You mob will move the goal posts wherever you have to, wonât you? Forget the facts. Theyâre inconvenient. Enjoy your forum.
Iâm just shocked at someone arguing that Seven News is the gold standard in journalism in this country.
Youâve combined a whole lot of statements from different people to combine into your angry snowball there. Yes, I am aware Seven has won Walkley awards. Yes, I am aware Walkleyâs are a universal yardstick in Australian journalism.
And yes, I do agree with you that Seven News sucks at all other times.
Gosh that whole look is amazing. The graphics, the opener, the â7â, the desk, the backdrop, the theme. Itâs beautiful.
If they include a newsroom and not just a set theyâll be ahead of 9 News in presentation for sure.
Gosh that whole look is awful.
Sorry, but not even HD can save the current look of Seven News for me.
I presume that like Ten, only the studio cameras & VizRT graphics are actually in HD for Sevenâs national/Sydney news bulletins?
Seven News needs to do something a lot more than just a newsroom to win me over as a viewerâŚ
