No consistency whatsoever?

I mean pretty much all of the crosses are done in the AEST Timezone, and there’s no point saying it’s in another studio, and whenever there’s a major event/international cross they mention the location - so there is consistency.

That isn’t called inconsistency, its called variation for different circumstances…

Couldn’t agree more. It was a special edition of the bulletin. It’s all within the same graphics package. Who cares.

Controversial opinion: this one is great! Even better was the ‘Welcome to Seven News’ instead
I am in the ‘starts now’ camp when it’s done well, like it has been on NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt.

Agreed. That opener was my favourite!

@TV.Cynic, from that whale story yesterday it’s evident Seven thought they were the only ones with vision until Nine and Ten later got access.
In the afternoon bulletin in Melbourne for 19th May, Mike Amor addressed the headline as “exclusive pictures of this whale rescue”.
Then when they got to the story they used the “exclusive banner”. I’m unsure why, this indicates the whole story was exclusive.

Only because one video was deemed exclusive with the watermark

It’s clear that Seven should have checked whether they had exclusive use of the video. They obviously didn’t.

I know I always complain about their set, but this is seriously the worst shot they could’ve thought of.
The desk is out of line with the stripe on the floor! BECAUSE THEY MOVED IT :rage::rage:

Simple solution: Move the desk back.

I dunno, I think this is the worst shot they could have thought of because of the awkward angle she’s having to look… :man_facepalming:

This one’s pretty bad too :joy:

It seems like Seven News Sydney are now using those horrendous Update Supers from Melbourne:

Something like this better not eventually make it into the main bulletins. Don’t even get me started on those tacky “Developing Now” and “All The Facts” taglines!

At the start of the cross Laurel was looking forward when speaking to Tim. It’s almost like she was told to turn and face the screen during his report. :man_facepalming:

Don’t you mean Brisbane?

Yeah, that’s it. Although the Melbourne ones were pretty similar.

Might I also add that the content quality was rather poor too. Top story during the update was about a car slamming into a suburban shop (which yes, it seems Nine did too) while the 2nd was about teenage hoons!

11 people injured in what may pan out as more than an accident is not “poor quality content”.

Perhaps I shouldn’t be making decisions in a TV newsroom then, because barring something extremely significant (while obviously terrible for those injured, car crashing into a shop isn’t quite at the level of bulletin leading IMO) I’d say the pandemic is still the #1 story in Sydney until there are zero cases in the state for an extended period of time.
