Seven News Content and Appearance (2015-2020)

That would give Nine News its’ fifth win of 2019 with eleven weeks down, but make it 6-5 in Seven’s favour.

Nine News could be making their move now. South-East Queensland has been a stronghold for Nine for the most part of this millennium.

Does anyone have the info on who has won in Brisbane year by year in the 2000s?

Is the ratings winner list in 6pm news in Brisbane something like:
2007-2012 Seven News
2013-2017 Nine News
2018 Seven News

Not sure about before that?

Between 1987-2006, (National) Nine News was the ratings leader in SE Queensland, despite the continual game of musical chairs.

The tide started to turn when John Schluter quit QTQ just short of his silver anniversary, and then-Today newsreader Sharyn Ghidella moved to Brisbane to join Seven News (Sydney audiences will know that Ian Ross made a similar career move earlier that decade).

In 2006 Nine News Queensland crashed from winning 30+ weeks to not winning a single week in 2008.

Not sure I’d say that Seven have been really investing in sets though.

Perth, Brisbane/Gold Coast, Regional Queensland. Sydney/national - all have been underwhelming tweaks to outdated or fairly ordinary sets IMO. Melbourne’s is OK but nothing really to write home about. And at the risk of sounding like a particular presenter on one of the other channels, I’d probably like the Seven News Adelaide set if there wasn’t so much white! :stuck_out_tongue:

Melbournes set costs around 800k

I would say that’s a bit of an investment.

A couple of minor bloopers on Seven News Melbourne tonight:

The weather screen was slightly cut of on the left hand side (fixed later).

Then, the ‘Jane’s Weather’ graphic came up when Melina Sarris is presenting instead.

A big investment sure, but money =/= quality.

Here’s some caps of the preview during The Chase in Melbourne, each story is introduced with a outro for it by the reporter on the story.

A ghost of the 2013-16 era Seven News branding, I see.

Pretty much.
Each reporter has the classic “ wobbly camera” shot for dramatic effect

And here’s the backdrop tonight, a case of “ let’s make the HD picture blurry and up the contrast so it looks more vibrant than it is” :man_facepalming:t2:

Don’t understand why they won’t show the eastern side of the city , it’s far prettier.

I was referring more to the graphic overlay behind the super in those reporter PTCs, but I take your point.

That looks awful!

It looks like Adelaide is experimenting with different lighting for the standing sport angle:

(screencap from 7plus)

I don’t mind it. Traditionally the side wall is blue, not red. It sort of feels like the Adelaide set is in “The Latest” mode - just as Sydney’s set banishes the blue overload for the late night bulletin.

I reckon they had that sort of update a few years ago as well, probably around 2014? I do like the standing presentation though.

That backdrop is so dull! The Princes Bridge backdrop has so much more life, have no clue as to why they got rid of it, brought it back and got rid of it again.

After five years, NOW they experiment? :joy::joy:

Still my preferred current Seven set.

7 news Brisbane is countering Nine’s cash giveaway, putting $2,000 on the line every night.

Is this “7 News Weather Centre” graphic new?

I noticed that yesterday on the Morning News.

Looks terrible, poor execution.

Im all for these types of things. However, I agree they need to be executed properly rather than a graphic on a screen (which is basically what the sunrise weather tracker ended up turning into).

I would be promoting this (particularly in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane) as a centre which consists of an experienced team, that are continually analysing weather patterns and providing comprehensive forecasts.

Maybe there is more to come as its new, but we will wait and see.
