I agree with the theme in the Perth Fuelwatch. It doesnāt sound right, it sounds like its playing twice over each other at the start and then goes into a funny swish thing for awhile.
Love the theme, although I think it would be better if the theme/bed would fade out as the presenter starts with the first story, like in Seven Local News.
Oh come on.
All I can say about Seven News:
Was expecting new graphics.
The new Mission Theme sounds authoritative, but does not suit the style of presentation that is given in my opinion. The news has no authority in it. Basically Today Tonight on steroids.
Some examples of how much better/different the set could look if they fixed the shitty lighting and printed panels and replaced their horrendous graphics.
Hereās a small preview of the new theme without voices or sound effects, featured on 7 Local News bulletins tonight. Both are around 30 seconds in length.
I really donāt like their headline bed - the theme seems to loop on a very short segment of it, without giving any of the iconic notes of the theme. This segment of the theme contains what I think are the key elements to include.
Indeed they have almost managed to make The Mission sound like that unknown theme they attempted to change to last time they messed with the theme, only the final bit of the theme is clearly identifiable. They also need openers that fit the music - the final sting seems detached from the headline bed.
The slow and low version works well for promos, but they need something punchier at 6.
The voiceover wording is a bit poor as well- being live from the capital city isnāt a selling point over Nine. Iād go for something like - āThis is Melbourneās Seven News at six, with Peter Mitchellā, perhaps even not mentioning Seven in that - with the point being that the news is for the city, not just from.
I know right - itās laughableā¦ itās not even the best set in Sydney.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Disagreement is expected, but letās try to add some substance to arguments, so that we have a discussion of substance instead of a slanging match.
And some just jump on the āpraise band wagonā no matter what 7 dish up.
The fact Nine have smashed Seven Sydney in the ratings using what is an awful set says it all. The set is the least of Sevenās concerns.
KVZ, those mocks look stunning and demonstrate what could be done to fix a poorly thought out design. Granted they are a little too similar to Nineās and Iād prefer to see Seven stand out from the crowd and try something different, but the current faux cityscape backdrop is laughable.
I groaned when I looked at one of the caps posted last night and saw the deck of the bridge unevenly spread across the screens. Old news vision of the Tasman Bridge collapse came to mind. Thereās not much wrong with the basic design of the set itās just poorly executed.
Iām sure Mr. McPherson wasnāt hired to tinker with and continue to build on the failures of past management. He must have his own vision. Iām aware that traditional news audiences are easily alienated by dramatic change and the audience is hard to please, particularly those who post here. Constant minor changes give the impression they have no confidence in their product. They constantly react to what Nine is doing instead of running their own race. Is it any wonder viewers are abandoning FTA television when weāre served up variations of one theme?
Having said that, the set is the least of their problems. Content, while showing glimpses of improvement recently, still needs work and the presenter will never recover from the āacting lessonsā debacle.
The best set in Sydneyā¦best set in Australia and defintely one of the best in the world. Hands down!
Someoneās a fan haha.
You know it
what did the Morning News look like today?
I was a bit annoyed they didnāt allow visable banter btw Ann and Brownie.
As in you could see Brownie was in Sydney, we was looking towards Ann at times in front of the green screen.
Like at the bulletin ender, why no allow Brownie to walk over to Anns desk as it pans out?
Says something about the holistic approach to Nine & Ten News hey?
So many different interpretations of the style guide, such a fractured networkā¦ I canāt believe I just watched 5 O&O stations in Australia.
