Few issues tonight. When Tim did the preview for sport no overlay footage of the headlines played. The camera moved to the wide shot position and just sat there as he read the preview out.
I wasn’t actually watching the Olympics coverage yesterday but I did tape it and it wasn’t until today I noticed that this news flash was actually nationwide; I saw it like this in Perth too.
It was strange that the globe wasn’t behind Michael here and it was the Sydney background instead. Normally that’s only up when just Sydney is watching news coverage from the main Martin Place HQ. Didn’t they expect the news flash involving Barnaby Joyce to happen so they were unprepared with the globe backdrop.
Either way I’m not complaining. I liked seeing the Sydney background on my TV for once, it looks so much better than on my iPad or computer!!! Unfortunately I don’t have a Chromecast to stream from my computer to TV…
And might I add, when is the last time Mark Ferguson ever filed a report out in the field? I was disgusted the other day when he introduced a story about how he was the guest MC and met special kids at this event, but then they made Angie Asimus do the report… Even Peter Mitchell in Melbourne has been doing the odd packaged report lately. Mark Ferguson never does anything.
Not related to the Content & Appearance of Seven News, but whatever happened to the Sydney Telethon (as referenced in tweet #2) anyway?
I seem to remember the first local telethon on Channel Seven Sydney in 25 years being this amazing success for them (even raising more money that Nine’s Gold Telethon did in 2015), but it seemed to quietly disappear off the radar after that?
