@LukeMovieMan should consider also before making such statements that these crews don’t just go to cover metro news stories, they may need to travel to more remote spots where road travel isn’t the most effective and have to travel long distances. Especially in large states like WA.

I apologise if I offended anyone, wasn’t the intention. I think this has been taken out of proportion 
I wasn’t saying South Australia & WA “don’t matter” or “aren’t important”.
I was just wondering if choppers are really necessary in those markets (shorter 6pm bulletins, lower ratings, lower populations = less exposure, inefficient use of money & less return for sponsors/advertisers, etc.

Sydney is classed as an Alpha+ city (along with Paris, Dubai and Tokyo) whereas Melbourne is classed as an Alpha city (along with Soeul, Washington and Istanbul) For the record New York and London are Alpha ++ cities.
However I was just pointing out the irony in someone from Melbourne saying - no news happens in Perth & Adelaide, so they don’t need a chopper. It’s all relative. Someone from a larger city than Melbourne could say the same about Melbourne.
I think when 7/9 pull the chopper out of the air in ADL, THEN we can say it’s to small for a chopper.

@SydneyCityTV @KICK-IT for what it is worth, aerial footage from a chopper was front and centre in tonight’s bulletin in response to the flooding situation in the hills and selected southern suburbs (several rivers burst their banks).
Also a special backdrop and full screen graphics featured too

I’ve always wondered why Adelaide uses a different font for the Seven News logo, as the fonts Eurostile and Square 721 are very accessible. Don’t mind it though, it’s good to be a bit different and I’m pretty sure that is the old Ten News 2005-2008 logo font.
If they make it to Sydney we will probably see “MOST EXPERIENCED on WEATHER” or some garbage like that.
But hopefully this is probably just more of the frankenstein stuff that the Brisbane newsroom seems to thrive on. I’m surprised they lasted this long before ruining the new package with local tweaks and additions (though to be fair the style of those transitions isn’t all that bad really).

Those transitions would give anyone the impression they were watching a lifestyle show. Mind you 7 news is basically a tabloid lifestyle show isnt it.
