Seven News Content and Appearance (2015-2020)

Responding to some discussion in the Presenters & Reporters thread because it’s more relevant here..

I’ve often wondered why Seven, with 2 qualified meteorologists in David Brown and Jane Bunn, don’t simply do a “Weather Centre” style area in their Melbourne offices and send it through to all stations for the news. Surely we’d all rather get our weather from a meteorologist than a young lass standing up next to a green screen reading what the BoM has sent out?

The Weather forecasts during Seven’s 6pm bulletins are presented live. If they were to be all pre-recorded, you couldn’t do the current temperatures (“Today we reached a top of 28 degrees and right now it’s 23…”) at the top of the forecast anymore.

I definitely think that a “Weather Centre” area is something that Seven (or indeed, any Australian TV network) should try out, but have one in each city. I’m not sure about Adelaide & Perth, but I definitely think that such a concept would work well in the East Coast cities.
