Seven News and Current Affairs

Probably why Seven decided to put that edition (or whatever they could from it) online!

Does anyone know what the opening music is?

Oh wow that brings memories. When Sunrise was worth watching.

it was the theme Sunrise used in the mid to late 90s.

I know that but what is the theme called?

It’s the one they used until around 1999.

No idea of the exact name or who composed it, but given that the theme has some hints of The Mission/NBC chimes I reckon it was commissioned especially for either Seven or NBC.

I believe the weekday edition (Sunrise) was axed along with 11AM about a month later in June 1999? The Weekday edition recommenced a year later in September 2000 with Olympic Sunrise.

Sunday Sunrise continued through this time though.

Final edition of 11AM aired on 28/5/1999, Sunrise might’ve been the same?

I think they both went together as a result of cost cutting. Didn’t last long as Sunrise was back permanently from 2000/01 and Seven Morning News launching in 2001.

Serious opening music there.

Sounds like the people behind the channel put it over the top of the actual theme which was played (probably for licensing reasons)

That set was so much better

Even Seven have to abide by YouTube’s archaic copyright policies…

It was like that for at least a year I’m sure.

F1 are stringent on copyright so 7 have to grey the footage.

On a side note, Kochie and Nat co-hosting in 1999 as they are 21 years later

I know YouTube’s content ID can be a real pain. A few seconds of a song can make an entire video not eligible for monetisation or get it blocked.

TVW at its best. Great opener, great theme and nice simple graphics.

I loved that set too which is probably an unpopular opinion since there’s a hatred of blue in these parts.
