The Seven News Vault channel have gone into the archives again, uploading an edition of Witness.
As our more esteemed media enthusiasts will no doubt be able to tell us, Jana Wendt’s time at the Seven Network ended rather interestingly.
From an On-Air Presentation perspective though, Witness had quite modern branding for the time.
Wasn’t a rumour. Naylor was paid by 9 for quite some time after retiring for the reason you mentioned.
The latest addition to the Seven News Vault YouTube Channel, Sydney bulletin from New Years Eve 1983 with Paul Marshall (News), Rex Mossop (Sport), Ian Craig (Racing Report) and Mike Bailey (Weather):
the countdown clock is a nice touch
This bulletin would have also been relayed across all NSW regionals (except NBN3?)
Whilst we’re on the topic of bubbly personality weather presenters, here’s a flashback to now Weekend Sunrise host Monique Wright filling in on weather on Seven News Sydney back in 2008 (skip to 1:35). Her weather report on that night was certainly very funny.
Should the Sunday-Thursday weather presenting role on Seven News Sydney ever become vacant, I definitely think Monique should get the job, though it’s very unlikely in real life.
That report from Monique was ridiculous and way over the top. What was the story behind it?
Chris Bath seems to have aged a lot since being at 10. Why was she also presenting over the weekend?
That bulletin was during Ian Ross’ tenure as weeknight presenter and Chris was weekend presenter until he retired.
Apparently working at 10 ages a person.
Ahhh I see.
7NEWS Vault has uploaded their first bulletin from Martin Place:
Featuring the late Ian Ross, this was the first bulletin to introduce the graphics with the helicopter.
Olympic-related stories in this bulletin have been removed possibly to reduce the risk of copyright.
It would be great if they could upload the morning news from that era when they first moved to Martin place.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen the morning news presented from that set.
Yes you are correct. I’m pretty sure for sometime the bulletin was partially produced from Melbourne, even though they did use the MLC Centre for their Title card…
Though I may recall seeing Ann Sanders present the bulletin in 2004…
I thought Chris Bath presented the morning news during that time - I somewhat vaguely remember seeing caps on the old Media Spy.
I think you’re right. IIRC Ann took over the Morning News in 2006 when she and Chris Bath swapped roles.
Then I’m pretty sure Ann sometimes presented the 6pm news when Roscoe or someone was away…
Sunrise was the first show to be broadcast live from Martin Place that morning after the Closing Ceremony.
Doesn’t matter. No-one but the IOC can show it.
Looks so much better than the current set up.
