While Kay and Rod deserve the credit for taking Seven News to number one in the Brisbane market in 2007, it should also be noted that the arrivals of John Schluter and Sharyn Ghidella, as well as the hiring of Shane Webcke as its new sports presenter, helped to boost and solidify things.
It was always going to take a while for them to overtake the mob down the road, Bruce and Heather having led Nine’s news ratings dominance in the 90s and early 2000s.
Sydney had a large 7 logo on a blue square above its set which existed between 2005-10, while Brisbane had a medium-sized logo on a blue (later wood) panel above its set between February 2006-January 2012.
