Maybe viewers are getting sick of any remotely successful American drama having spin-off shows. Come up with some original ideas.

Rookie Feds wasn’t renewed or canceled straightaway and the potential Good Doctor spin-off wasn’t greenlit. Both were in limbo for months. I guess the strike going for longer resulted in it being canceled more so for the Good Doctor spin-off since the rookie feds weren’t rating that well and might not of been renewed anyway, regardless of the strike

The current evening schedule by Seven shows if reality shows fail to pique viewer interest, they have little in reserves to go to.

It got me thinking whether Seven had considered airing Home and Away 40 weeks per year as triple episodes Monday to Wednesday, move Better Homes and Gardens to Thursday and screen shows like Highway Patrol in the 7pm Friday slot. Reality shows can then start at 8pm during the week. Obviously still packaged as half hour episodes for international sales

Strength of this proposal would be the potential to capture viewers in the second half from those turning over from say Nine.

Weakness would be possible viewer loss by airing reality shows from 8pm.

How would 7 have a special ready to go on Johnny so soon? Would it have been made many weeks before I guess?

Highly unlikely they’d have something ready to go, they’ll absolutely be working on it right now but it wouldn’t take too long to put a special together given how much footage they have available.

There’s previously been a 7 Spotlight interview with him, so they’ll probably package that along with some footage of his time on X-Factor, DWTS, previous interviews on Sunrise and TMS and maybe speak with family or friends to put this together.

As bad as it sounds, these things are usually in the can well ahead of someone passing, especially given his diagnosis. The only changes being made would be how he saw his final months.

For people like the Queen and other significant people of interest absolutely, and no disrespect to Johnny, but I can’t imagine they would have had something in the works for him in the same regard as that.

As I mentioned, plenty of footage and past interviews for them to draw on to make this possible - especially with what may be a tight turnaround to package it together.

He’s absolutely deserving of a special.

I think it’s easy to put together something quickly in the event of the death of a celebrity or tv personality. Look at the likes of Richie Benaud and Graham Kennedy. Both put together quickly, whether or not it’s quality, seeing us believing. Let’s see if it is a quality program

No. From what I remember, Cornelia remained out of the spotlight after revealing her cancer diagnosis, which came four and a half months before she passed.

The concert is schedule to run until 11pm so should get Seven’s week off to a good start.
