Seven Network - Programs and Schedules

We Were Gonna Have a Double New The Goldbergs That Night, Looks Like There Gonna Move to 7flix Afterall.

or more likely Foxtel (S1 is on Universal Channel)!

That’s what you think.

Seven does not give a rat’s f*** about the Goldbergs or any other of its non-Australian/UK shows for that matter, as much as I am a big fan of it, I knew from when I saw the first promos while watching Bogan Hunters on 7mate that this will flop big time in the ratings and Seven would give up on it after a while. So I caught up with season one on Channel BT. Then our governments and movie studios decided to block illegal torrents from the net, and now I am forced to be at the whims of the executives of Channel 7 and watch it when they feel like. Do they still have output deals with US studios? I know Nine has axed all its US output deals and instead (like Seven) concentrated on more Australian content and acquired cheaply produced crime docos from independent producers. I predict that within two years Seven and Nine on their main channels will be 100% Australian produced programming which would be good for our industry and give thousands of Aussie jobs and the next big US sitcom hit similar to Friends and The Big Bang Theory would be seen only on Foxtel or Netflix. Comedy on Australian TV (US, UK or Aussie) is a dying breed apart from the ABC.

The Goldbergs (and a lot of other US content) is on Hulu . Despite what some say on here, Hulu is legal but will cost you $10 a month. All Fast tracked and in HD

Seven still has Disney but you’re right. Output deals are unfortunately looking like a dying breed as networks can’t seem to grasp the concept of fast tracking.

that is because US ratings seasons are completely different to Australia’s: here it’s about 40 weeks with a break only at Easter. In the US new episodes of shows are only aired during “sweeps” (their ratings season) and often it is four weeks on three weeks off plus breaks for Superbowl weekend, Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, Labor Day etc. If Aussie networks fast-tracked US shows they would have to find filler for weeks that show isn’t on (in the US networks often show reruns of past seasons in non-sweeps weeks).

Our networks should copy that. If no new episode is available, show a repeat. I don’t see why that’s such a big problem

It has to be better than slow tracking. Slow tracking in this day and age is guaranteed failure.

Because repeats don’t rate in Australia. It’s a proven fact that when they try it here, it fails. We are not America.

The American networks have done that for decades and Americans are used to it. In Australia we are used to seeing the whole season without a break because In the past they delayed the new season until the new year and showed it all at once.

By fast tracking and showing episodes sporadically between September and May, it ruins the flow and viewers just give uptrying to find the show and drop off. The series on pay tv are usually shorter and shown without a break which works in Australia too. Unless the American free to air networks change their tune and show their seasons without a break or at least in two blocks without breaks, then Australians will not watch them in big numbers ever again.

They continue to not show Blindspot on Wednesdays with regularity.

With Parks and Recreation over, Seven shall fill it’s late night slot with Repeats of the Goldbergs Season 2.

It’s crazy that they’re showing second or third repeat of season 1 but haven’t shown all the episodes of season 2 or season 3.

The Sunday Telegraph reports Seven will show The Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebration, which takes place at the grounds of Windsor Castle from this Thursday to Sunday. The Sunday concert and equestrian event (click here for the line up), produced by ITV, will be shown on Thursday, May 19 at 8.30pm.
