I understand that but other networks were able to still film (celebrity MasterChef and the masked singer). And most networks were smart enough to film their whole years shows earlier to avoid scenarios like this. Not the greatest management.
Wasnāt due until 2022, looking less likely now.
Feels like this has been coming forever, couldāve sworn it had been filmed already too.
Most parts of Mates on a Mission had been filmed already, they still wanted to go overseas to do a couple more adventures.
Big Brother VIP is a plain and simple schedule filler - as long as it doesnāt bomb in the ratings, it will have done its job. If it does big business for Seven, thatās a bonus for them.
I think they said that the original premise of the show was to film it all overseas. They then decided to film in Australia but itās not going to be like they originally planned.
I think that statement is a little unfair. You can only be SO FAR ahead at any one time. Production would have been affected either this year or into 2022 for ALL networks.
While a show like VIP has been filmed in these circumstances, 7 decided against proceeding with AGT due to not having an audience. They made a choice based on genre - very different to MasterChef. They got two seasons of SAS filmed and in the can etc.
No network will be immune and many will need to alter or amend their schedules/expectations - aka MAFS.
I donāt think its unfair. 10 managed to still film The Masked Singer. Its not like this is the first year dealing with covid. Its their mismanagement
I take your point. My point was that many things HAVE been pre-recorded (across all networks). As we have seen over the last few days, many productions across FTA and Pay TV have been postponed, scaled down or moved location in line with whatever parameters they have. All networks will run into this - it just hit 7 in this particular way despite them having all shows in the bag so far (and still many shows in the bag).
You can only be so far in terms of production. It will catch everyone eventually.
Because the 2022 Upfronts thread is locked, Iāll post this hereā¦
Gemma Acton posted a picture on her Instagram yesterday of what appears to be a rehearsal or pre-recording for Tuesdayās upfronts.
Interesting to see her and Kochie together though. Maybe Kochie is taking on some sort of finance role in 2022 in addition to Sunrise?
Or it could just be that he presents finance segmenta during Sunrise, so theyre talking up āearly to late finance coverageā, as Gemma is on The Latest most nights.
I also thought too that maybe Kochie will be replacing Gemma as Network Finance Editor whilst sheās on maternity leave.
Or maybe Gemma and Kochie could be hosting the Upfronts. Will just have to wait and see.
