Same in Sydney, at about 2:56am a couple of minutes after the Olympics coverage ended.
Failed attempt at a zinger by the looks of things.
I always wanted to be a stand-up comedian but I never graduated from stand-up comedian school.
How do you know that?
Seven HD will become the main channel for big events.
Perhaps theyâll just simulcast the AFL Grand Final on both the main channel and 7mate so they donât have to switch the main channel to HD in Bris, Syd and Perth.
I reckon they will switch the main channel on HD for the grand final and keep it that way until the AFL starts again next year (or they change their HD strategy).
While these is no AFL on there is no reason to have 7mate in HD and it also gives them the spring racing carnival and Australian Open in HD on the main channel.
I completely agree.
If nothing else, Seven should at the very least change the LCN name (or whatever the termâs actually called) to â7mateHD (city)â in the markets that have it. To say the least, itâs infuriating to have a channel called â7HD Sydneyâ in the EPG when itâs actually 7mateHD Sydney!
Itâs a sad day. Back to crappy SD
News is back to looking crap!
The changeover as seen in Queensland from 7 simulcast to 7Mate simulcast was mid-program with an abrupt switch of the feed.
The Olympic telecast finished, then the simulcast continued for a short time with a couple of promos then an infomercial commenced complete with 7HD watermark then abruptly the feed switched to a 7Mate simulcast at 1:59 on this video. Then there was a7Mate promo then an Olympic Memories segment and then back to 7Mate.
Watermarks seen at this time:
So after the AFL everyone will get HD including regional Qld ?
Or will the ABC beat 7 to it announcing ABCHD soon.
We donât know yet.
ABC has made no commitments to HD other than a vague âJune next yearâ (ie June this year, which didnât happen), to an even vaguer âlater this yearâ. Donât bet on anything happening there!
Please no
They should just take the plunge and run both 7 and 7mate in HD on MPEG4, closing the 7mate MPEG2 stream to allow them to do so. The potential cost in the small number of viewers not being able to receive it in MPEG4 is far outweighed IMO by the benefits of being able to say they can offer two HD channels, and if they did it toward the end of the ratings season that gives viewers a good 3 months to upgrade their equipment if they need to.
It would then be reasonable a year or so later to flick the switch on 7Two as well.
Yes but remember they started 7 flix in mpeg4 and changed it to mpeg2 as some people couldnât receive itâŚ
Yeah these small minority of viewers without mpeg4 seem to have a lot of power and influence. 7flix going from mpeg4 to mpeg2 was a real step backwards for progress.
