The WBBL|11 fixture was released yesterday (July 11). Seven and 7plus will show 20 out of 43 matches, including all finals. Seven’s coverage starts with the tripleheader on November 9, led by the rematch of last season’s final between Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades. This year’s grand final will take place on Saturday, December 13, the day before BBL|15 commences.
Master of the Ashes Stuart Broad joins cricket’s #1 commentary team
Rivalry heats up between Test greats on Seven and 7plus
In a coup for cricket fans, one of England’s all-time finest – Stuart Broad – is set to join Seven’s commentary team for the 2025-26 Ashes Series, which starts with the West Test in Perth on Tuesday, 21 November live and free on Seven, and 7plus Sport.
Considered one of England’s greatest ever test bowlers and an equally sharp analyst, Broad will be a familiar face to Australian viewers with a number of career-defining moments on the international stage, particularly within the game’s most storied rivalry.
Broad said he cannot wait to return to Australia for the summer to soak in the electric atmosphere of The Ashes, and to build on the rivalry between Australia and England in the commentary box, live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport.
“As we count down to one of the most anticipated Ashes Series in recent memory, I cannot wait to join Seven’s cricket commentary team for the 2025-26 summer of cricket,” he said.
“I’ve always loved coming to Australia and feeling the love from every Australian cricket fan, and I anticipate this summer won’t be any different.
“Since retiring from international cricket, I’ve received many well wishes and messages from passionate Australian fans, so to get the chance to speak to them directly on Seven and 7plus Sport – where Aussies turn for their cricket – is something I’m looking forward to,” Broad said.
“I can’t wait to be in the Seven commentary box to witness what will be another epic Ashes Series played in the right spirit, as all Ashes are. Aren’t they?
“To have the opportunity to call the Ashes alongside a group of Australian cricket’s greatest ever batsmen in Ricky Ponting, Matthew Hayden and Justin Langer is a genuine treat, and I look forward to enjoying some healthy banter, paired with expert analysis between us all,” he said.
Seven Network Head of Cricket, Joel Starcevic said: “Stuart Broad is one of England’s greatest ever fast bowlers and sharpest cricket minds, and we are thrilled to have someone of his calibre to offer expert analysis and insights for The Ashes on Seven and 7plus Sport.
“Stuart’s rivalry with Australia runs deep, and we cannot wait to see him go head-to-head with a group of Australia’s greatest ever cricket icons in the Seven commentary box this summer.
“Not just a legend of the game on the pitch, his eloquent analysis, cheeky banter, genuine love for the sport and sharp insights makes him the ultimate addition to our star-studded Test cricket commentary team.
“With just 100 days to go until the summer of cricket begins on Seven, with the Women’s Big Bash League, we are putting the finishing touches on our broadcast offering for a summer like no other,” he said.
“Every ball of The Ashes, plus the BBL, WBBL and Women’s International Series. You do not want to miss a moment right here, live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport.”
Summer of cricket on Seven and 7plus Sport
Starts this November
Been very impressed by Broad’s transition. Good pick up for 7.
This year’s Top End T20 will have 11 teams:
Nepal National Team
Pakistan Shaheens (‘A’)
Bangladesh ‘A’
Chicago Kingsmen (USA)
Hobart Hurricanes Academy
Perth Scorchers Academy
Adelaide Strikers Academy
Melbourne Stars Academy
Melbourne Renegades Academy
ACT Comets
NT Strike
And probably the only addition to their summer. With Broad & Mitchell already part of their regular team, I think 7 has enough for English perspective. Fox would be the same since they already have Guha and Vaughan as part of their regular team.
Buzz Rothfield reports via The Daily Telegraph that Seven have signed David ‘Bumble’ Lloyd for the Ashes this summer.
In a similar role to what he had last ashes? Appearing via Zoom during tea breaks
One assumes he’ll be able to make it into the country this time
And hopefully call and not just appear here and there. Hoping that Seven signs up Atherton who’ll be over with SEN.
Would that be too many England people? Given they have Alison Mitchell too. They are the local broadcast and not the world feed. If Bumble is only there for lunch or tea break stuff then having Atherton for game commentary or analysis is fine
If Seven had the rights to the Australia v South Africa T20 tonight, would Seven have pushed The Voice back a day?
You rotate them through though.
Well they technically do, but have sublicensed to Fox.
If my grandmother had wheels…
If memory serves he did a couple of stints due to commentators getting Covid last time but wasn’t fulltime.
I think he has a few other commitments as he writes a lot for The Times (IIRC) and Sky content even if they don’t have the rights.
Outstanding broadcaster.
Yeah he’s a busy man and did some specials stints during the MCG Test Seven had to call up the BBL team for, but would love for some class to come to Aussie TV for a stint or two a day.
If then they have no right being critical of the lack of cricket over tht summer given the overall lack of interest in the sport. T20 international games involving Australia in prime time will likely perform well even though we are in winter. The northern Australia series in 2003 did well from memory.
They arent even screening the womens tests.
