100%. Seven have the better commentary team (for tests) imo.

Any list of commentators that doesn’t have Ponting at the top (or near it) is flawed. No chance that Fleming or even Atherton (who is very good as a lead caller but doesn’t provide a lot of insight as expert) are better expert commentators. In my view, Ponting is the best in the world and his presence alone elevates 7’s coverage considerably.

The best are undoubtedly Ricky Ponting, Alison Mitchell and Tim Lane. James Brayshaw and Jason Richardson are among the worst.

The problem with Seven having broadcasting rights to both Tests and BBL is that BBL is often left as an afterthought. The best talent commentate the tests and anyone leftover is given the Big Bash.

When Nine had the Tests (and ODIs and T20Is) and Ten had the BBL, we got to see each network using their own best commentators.

Day two of Fifth Test reaches 4.3 million on Seven

Australia remains in the box seat in the Fifth Test in Hobart thanks to a 152-run lead heading into day three, with the Seven Network’s live and free coverage yesterday reaching 4.3 million people and peaking at 1.55 million.

As 17 wickets fell across an action-packed day two, Seven recorded an average audience of 1.22 million viewers nationally for yesterday’s third session.

The second session had 1.2 million viewers nationally, while the first session recorded 1.04 million viewers nationally. All sessions dominated their timeslots, ranking #1 in 25 to 54s, 16 to 39s and total people. Seven had the top six programs nationally yesterday, five of which were Ashes sessions.

Seven delivered 76% of the Ashes broadcast audience nationally. In the capital cities, Seven recorded a commercial audience share of 53% in total people and 54.7% in 25 to 54s from 6pm to midnight, while Channel 7 was up 91% year-on-year in total people and 100% in 25 to 54s during prime time.

I’ve had to watch the Fox coverage a couple of times when the Fetch streaming FTA channels to my study hasn’t been working properly and I can definitely say that I much prefer the Seven coverage.

Ponting and Lane I definitely love when they’re both on (not just for the Tasmanian factor either but it is great!) and Mitchell is great too. I’ve definitely liked seeing Al Nicholson on the Test coverage too and if he took over after Tim Lane retired I’d be quite comfortable with that.

Fox started this broadcast deal as being better but as it has continued, 7 has taken over and I prefer watching 7

According to advanced guides, the Twenty20 matches of the Women’s Ashes will be shown on 7mate (including game 2 and 3 which will be held on Saturday and Sunday afternoons) but the test will be on main channel. Why?

AFLW or racing clashes?

The T20 Game 2 is scheduled for the main channel in Sydney and Brisbane on 22/01/2022 02:00 PM AEDT

Other markets get Women’s’ AFL - different markets get different games.

Game 3 is on the main channel in Brisbane on 23/01

Other markets get Women’s AFL including Rnd 3: North Melbourne v GWS in Sydney.

The men’s Ashes series ended tonight with Australia winning the fifth test with two days to spare. Seven and Cricket Australia won’t be happy.
Nine basically has free rein on Monday and Tuesday now.

@TV.Cynic has called this very thing a few times now in threads.

They still have Big Bash games on both nights.

Is the expectation that 7 will use the BBL style scorebug for the Women’s T20’s & 50 overs or will they use their old graphics they used earlier for the Indian T20’s & 50 overs.

No, now there are three graphics (or at least should be):

BBL/WBBL
International Limited Overs
Tests

Which is basically the international version of the old BBL & WBBL graphics right?
