Seven AFL Coverage

Why would the market with the smallest audience make for the best ratings?

This slide from tonight agrees with the information from Seven posted above.

Regardless of the results of this Saturday’s AFL Grand Final, I think both Adelaide and Richmond will be rewarded when the 2018 fixture comes out on Friday, October 27. They will dominate the Thursday and Friday night fixture which should generate good ratings for Seven in both Melbourne and Adelaide.
The 2018 AFL women’s competition fixture will also be released on the same day.

Be nobody in SE Qld because they’re almost never the host telecaster for Lions/Suns home games that are in Australia, and they’ll just fly up another anyway given the rare game they MIGHT host would be Saturday Nights.

Ten’s used to be (albeit in Brisbane Lions & Sydney Swans glory days):

•SYD: Neil Cordy
•MELB: Christi Malthouse, Andrew Maher, Mark Howard, Kelli Underwood
•BRIS: Bill McDonald (disappeared in 2011)
•ADEL: Corey Wingard (from 2007, Melb was used prior)
•PER: Tim Gossage

I wonder how Seven will get people to call games while the regular guys are at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast. BT will do AFL, so that’s covered. Jason Bennett will help out, and they’ll need another caller from radio, like for example, Kym Dillon an ex SANFL player who reads the sport on the news on Ch 9 Adelaide and calls footy on a radio station(5AA?), he has called games for ch 9 a couple of times(and for FOX too) when 9 had the footy last time, once when one of the callers was sick and once when Dwayne and Dermie didn’t get there until part way thru the game because a plane was late. So they could use him. They could also get Karl Langdon from 6PR in Perth, or someone from Crocmedia or MMM to help out.

Back in the day, 7 sent Bruce, Dennis and Sandy Roberts and Peter Landy over to the Olympics, and they managed to cover those 4, with Gerard Healy, Rex Hunt, Anthony Hudson, Ian Major, Ted Whitten, Ian Robertson and Malcolm Blight doing the main commentary. Terry Wheeler helped out too.

Keep an eye on Leigh Montagna doing some commentary with Seven. Bennet may well be on the Cold Coast too given his versatility.

Yeah, was thinking the same thing. Who else they have on AFL that isn’t muti-sport?

Yeah surely Seven Sport will be using Jason Bennett for the Winter Olympics / Comm Games?

Maybe hosting the 7Two or 7mate feed?

that hurts

Anyone know if tonight’s Brownlow Red Carpet and/or count is available to live stream (via 7Live/Plus7)?

Aren’t all 7 channels live streamed?

Yeah, but being an official AFL broadcast, live streaming might be exclusive via Telstra?

Guess we’ll know in 5min (certainly 35min) :+1:

I think the Brownlow red carpet will be streamed on Plus7. However only AFL Live Pass subscribers can stream the Brownlow voting count on their mobiles.

Yep, you’re right, just tried it :+1:

Standby for a long night of Border Security International repeats on Ch 7 stream via 7Live/Plus7 for Melbourne, Adelaide & Perth

Or maybe “Highway Patrol” which is what’s on Seven in Sydney right now.

The Brownlow medal is on 7mate here.

They won’t waste a new episode of Highway Patrol on their live stream?
