Seven AFL Coverage

  1. What happened to Leigh Matthews on Friday night footy
  2. Why did Doc Larkins just disappear a couple of years ago? He’s still on 3AW. Seven now use Dr Rohan White occasionally (Triple M).
  3. Does Tim Watson only do Saturday afternoon footy expert commentary (he use to be alongside Richo on Friday night boundary).

assuming Tim Watson cut back after taking over weekday sports on 7 News Melbourne.

They are only live if its a sell out which it is. I remember a port game back at Aami Dtadium that wasnt sold out was delayed on television.

Who is commentating the showdown today? Anyone know?

All good now Mark Ruccito. Was thinking I had to get my computer out to listen to the radio

The Bombers trek to the Adelaide Oval cauldron fresh from a victory to face Port Adelaide on the rebound from a Showdown loss. At half time of Friday Night Football we catch up with injured Port super star Chad Wingard.

Saturday Night Footy comes from Metricon Stadium as the Suns host an improved Blues outfit. Suns coach Rodney Eade and young gun Jaeger O’Meara join us live at the desk. Cameron Ling goes one-on-one with Gold Coast champion Gary Ablett. We talk all things football with Carlton’s Curnow brothers, Ed and Charlie. And we get a special visit from Suns signing former NFL player Brandon Kaufman.

Sunday Football has the match of the round as the rampaging Bulldogs face reigning premier Hawthorn at Etihad Stadium. Leigh Matthews goes one-on-one with Bulldogs skipper Bob Murphy. Hawks defender Josh Gibson re-lives his first goal at the Hawks and Paul Puopolo is our half time feature.

Saturday Arvo Football sees St Kilda battle the Magpies 50 years since the Saints won their first and only premiership. Saint Dylan Roberton tells us about his move back from Perth with his busy family of three kids under three. And suspended Collingwood midfielder Steele Sidebottom joins us live.

Anyone else noticed Seven’s new team line-up graphics?

They look (no kidding) IDENTICAL to Ten’s 2007-2011 AFL graphics!?

I mentioned two weeks ago Seven’s team line-up graphics were similar to those used in 2007-2011, only different fonts.

Does Matt Campbell (CrownBet guy, use to be at sportsbet.com.au used on Ch 10), still call AFL matches for Fox Sports?

Took over officially, following the death of Clinton Grybas in 2008

Matt doesn’t call AFL matches anymore after quitting Fox Sports earlier this year.

Michael Felgate hosting Footy Central tonight with Basil Zempilas in Adelaide commentating the swimming trials.

Yes, again, that could’ve been Rebecca Maddern (like she did a few times last year).

Seven’s loss…

In regards to Matt Campbell, I didn’t realise. You always use to hear him during news highlights…

In regards to Dennis Cometti’s replacement, I reckon it should (and could) be Tim Lane or Michael Christian or even luring Anthony Hudson back??

No he quit this year and has been replaced by Adam Papalia.

Yes. However he was previously part of the Fox Footy roster. He worked for Fox Footy from 2002-2006 and 2008-2015.

With Seven only broadcasting 3 games a week next year, I would say Hamish replaces Dennis on Friday nights and Basil on Sunday’s. The Saturday match Hamish and Basil do currently won’t be on seven anymore.

I was hoping Seven would drop Basil, a possibility?

Adam was broadcasting Friday night games on 6pr with Brad Hardie not sure if he is doing that

He’s still working for 6PR. He only does Saturday night games for Fox.

With Bruce, Baz and Hamish off to Rio, who will be thier replacements during the duration of the Olympics

Nothing official yet, but one scenario is:

Friday: BT and Dennis
Saturday: Jason Bennett and Luke Darcy
Saturday night: BT
Sunday: Dennis and Luke Darcy

Why is 7 only doing 3 live games and they paid all that money For the New deal

As the AFL puts it, via http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-08-18/fans-fiveminute-guide-to-broadcast-deal

[quote= Ashley Browne and Jennifer Phelan]The other major change is one of the Saturday afternoon fixtures is moved to 3.20pm, designed for Foxtel to on-sell to a free to air network as a lead in to the 6pm news.

No word on this yet; will Foxtel on-sell to 7? TEN? Anyone at all?
