Seven AFL Coverage

The only reason he would join 7 is if Fox is still refusing to let him call games. I find that hard to believe since they now are calling all 9 matches a round

The presenters are copping a belting on socials.

Keep 7 News Presenters away, and Hamish should have followed Gill out the door. He interviews like they are all babies.

Seven could wheel out the ghost of Lou Richards and even it would cop a hammering on social media.

It’s like New Years Eve coverage - no matter who you get to front it, they’ll be criticised.

Now that Seven announced it would have the Grand Final marathon for late night Friday/early Saturday morning, the grand final matches involving Sydney (2005 and 2012) and Brisbane (2001-2003) surely will be featured heavily.

Also 2012 for Sydney (win against the Hawks).

From the article

Wilson is contracted to Nine (which owns The Age) until December with a restraint period, said a person with direct knowledge of the discussions but not authorised to speak, meaning Wilson will likely not join Seven’s AFL coverage until mid-2025.

interesting little tidbit in the article

Correct, when they were known as South Melbourne and Fitzroy (one half of the Brisbane Lions merger).

Every market will get a different overnight marathon leading up to GF day.

Feels a lot like 2011 going into 2012 when there were big changes to Seven and Fox Footy with the start of the new broadcast deal and GWS entering the competition…

Luke Darcy, Brian Taylor, Cameron Ling, Basil Zempilas, Brett Kirk, Mick Maulthouse, Peter Larkins joined Seven’s AFL coverage replacing David Swartz who departed the coverage.

Anthony Hudson, Dermott Brereton, Ben Dixon, Barry Hall, Eddie McGuire joined Fox Footy’s coverage replacing Brian Taylor, Rohan Smith, and Liam Pickering departing their coverage.

Matthew Lloyd replaced Dermott Brereton on Nine’s SFS coverage

So currently we have it confirmed that Cornes and Wilson will be joining Seven as well as potentially Craig Hutchison and Gerald Whateley as well.

I don’t think he’s leaving.

So with Rainmarker being involved, we should expect to see the generic studio from SEN used for Seven’s coverage and shows next season?

They already use it for Talking W & also to maybe call interstate AFLW games? So I can see them using it for their weekday shows they seem to want to do.
