Might be an unpopular opinion but I think Hamish is a very good play-by-play caller. He is accurate and has a lot of authority IMO.

Footy’s best free agent signs with Seven
The Seven Network has today announced Australian football media’s most quoted voice, Port Adelaide great, Kane Cornes will join Seven’s AFL coverage in 2025.
The 300 gamer, premiership player and four-time Port Adelaide best and fairest winner will join the 7AFL team for season 2025 and beyond, in a role that will see him provide live expert commentary on screen for the first time, as well as delivering opinion and analysis throughout the week across multiple programs.
With extensive experience in football journalism across TV, print and radio, Cornes will arrive at Seven with an unrivalled passion and knowledge of the modern game, paired with his signature outspoken style.
In a dynamic role with Seven, footy fans can also expect to see Cornes on screen frequently across the week, when he lends his voice to the biggest and most controversial AFL news and issues on 7NEWS.

Tim Watson on SEN
SEN veteran and Channel 7 broadcaster Tim Watson broke the news on Tuesday morning.
“Kane Cornes has signed at Channel 7,” Watson said on SEN Breakfast.
“He’ll be part of the broadcast of football. He’ll be doing one game each weekend and will be part of another couple of football programs. He’ll be doing some news type items regularly on Channel 7 news as well.
“He was sought by everyone and sundry. Obviously Channel 9 were very keen to keep him and Fox, but he has decided to (move to Seven).
“That is great news for Channel 7 because I think in the short time that he’s been in the media he has made as big an impression as anybody that has come from playing into the media.
“It’s great for him and great for Channel 7 as well.”
Maybe their other plans are the ‘multiple’ shows mentioned in the press release and also by Tim

I think Seven announce the signing of Kane Cornes to pre-empt any possible exodus of commentators from the network to join Fox Footy next year, as the latter will call every AFL match live (except the grand final which will be on delay) so will require more people.
Kane will remain a member of SEN’s AFL commentary team.

Does 7Plus have the finals season or does that start next year?
Next year for Finals leading up to the Grand Final.
They do have the Grand Final this year to stream like previous years

I’d like to think Luke Darcy is safe because he has other roles at the network such as The House of Wellness. I also think Jason Bennett is an integral part of the line-up given he also calls VFL and AFLW. So I reckon Hamish and Al Nicholson will be battling it out for the last play-by-play caller spot.
As for special comments, expect Shaun Burgoyne to stay because of the inclusivity and diversity quotas coming into effect next year. I think Kane might’ve said on SEN this morning that he’ll be doing Thursday night games next year (maybe with Daisy Thomas?).

Isn’t The House of Wellness an external production that pays for the timeslot on Seven (and Nine Radio), given it also still features Jacqui Felgate after she left Seven.

I would say Nicholson is the most safe because of his cricket commentary with 7. With 7 doing 3 games they can have 6 callers so all 4 could stay unless 7 hires a new caller.
I could see Bennett leaving if Fox gives a good offer, I think he started with Fox and given his popularity it could be a good get for Fox.
