Why is Carlton’s colour for the score graphic white? They aren’t wearing their clash
And it’s not the white shorts because in opening round the blue wore their away (blue top & white shorts) and 7 had blue score graphic

Carlton should be wearing their clash jumper. They are the away team and navy clashes with black
Clash doesn’t happen for any Blues vs Bombers or Blues vs Tigers - regardless of the home team.
But for Blues vs Pies (pies wear clash) but Pies vs Blues (blues don’t wear clash). I think it’s the same with Tigers vs Pies & Bombers vs Pies
Gee, Kylie, don’t want to mess up your precious hair! Not trying to be intentionally harsh or have a go, but given Sam Mac and the others and especially what it’s for… Could’ve lightly and very briefly put on the Big Freeze (10!) beanie
Note: based off Cynic’s caps, if she did elsewhere in the show apologies and will retract.
Rebecca Maddern hosting Big Freeze 10 with Tim Watson and Brian Taylor, on the field at the MCG.
Cameron Ling hosting the match coverage. I think it’s BT & Al Nicholson on the call
This was basically spot on, only difference was that Sunday night was Brayshaw with Bennett.
This was actually a good commentary split by 7. Everyone called twice and they tried new pairing too because I don’t think they had the 2 JB’s commentate together before.
They’ve done 1 game together before which was Bulldogs v Geelong on the Saturday night in Gather Round this year. IIRC the partnership in that game was pretty well praised and I think they were pretty good this time again. I would say probably the best partnership that 7 have atm, even though they’ve only done 2 games as a pairing.
In an ideal world where BT retires from TV and sticks with MMM exclusively, the Ch7 week for 2025 for me would like this:
Thursday
Host: Hamish McLachlan
Callers: James Brayshaw, Alister Nicholson
Specials: Matthew Richardson, Kate McCarthy
Boundary: Cameron Ling
Friday
Host: James Brayshaw
Callers: James Brayshaw, Jason Bennett
Specials: Luke Hodge, Dale Thomas
Boundary: Matthew Richardson (3rd specials role that they have during finals), Abbey Holmes
Saturday
Host: Abbey Holmes
Callers: Luke Darcy, Jason Bennett (Alister Nicholson to replace Darcy if WB are playing)
Specials: Joel Selwood, Cameron Ling
Boundary: Jude Bolton
Sunday
Host: Hamish McLachlan
Callers: Hamish McLachlan, Jo Wotton
Specials: Jobe Watson, Luke Darcy (Nathan Jones to replace Darcy if WB are playing)
Boundary: Erin Phillips
That’s years away yet, let’s be honest.
What’s more interesting is to see what happens next year, if/when Hamish McLachlan returns to commentary and how that affects the line-up, especially since there will be no Saturday games on Seven for the majority of the year.
I think Hamish can be the host on Saturday when they have it from R16 & Host on Thursday until R16. He can be the replacement commentator if Bulldogs are doing a game that’s meant to be called by Darcy. But I doubt he would want such a small role.
I think 7 should remember that Fox gets their own commentary from 2025 & should try to optimise who people like in their commentary with the likes of Bennett and Nicholson etc
in Victoria, that is, except if Anzac Day falls on that day as it will in 2026. The Dreamtime match is another marquee match which Seven will need to televise, as well as the Anzac Eve match between Melbourne and Richmond which will fall on a Saturday in 2027.
If I had to take a guess, I think Seven will be doing something similar to this next year:
Thursday night (R1-15)/Saturday night (R16-24)
Luke Darcy and Jason Bennett
Friday night
Brian Taylor and James Brayshaw
Sunday afternoon
Brian Taylor and Hamish McLachlan
I assume Alister Nicholson was only put on full-time this year to cover Hamish’s absence and will probably revert to a fill-in next year should Hamish return. If Hamish doesn’t return, then Alister could call Sundays with BT, which we assume those two will be doing for the rest of 2024.
7 should be smart and not make Bennett do Sunday VFL followed by Sunday AFL like last year. It’s stupid.
They have 6 callers and are mostly doing 3 games a round so they don’t have to have people double up
R0-15
Thursday: Bennett & Darcy
Friday: BT & Brayshaw
Sunday: Hamish & Nicholson
R16-24
Friday: BT & Brayshaw
Saturday: Bennett & Darcy
Sunday: Hamish & Nicholson
Hamish can also host Thursday or Saturday games like he did in 2023
I agree with what you’re saying about 6 callers/3 games, but I assume that BT is contracted to do two games for Seven per weekend, hence someone has to miss out.

Thank you to each and every person who decided to DO their bit in the fight against MND today. The fight is not over, help us get to $3M. We go again at QLD Freeze this weekend.

maybe but it’s a shame because he’s probably their worst (he’s good in radio but not tv) and that means either Nicholson or Bennett (their best) could miss out which is unfortunate.
He has risen quickly amongst sports commentators at 7 as he’s had big roles with cricket (fill in for Tim Lane with Tests, BBL, WBBL, Women’s Internationals) , commonwealth games, Olympics? AFLW and now AFL (doing Thursday), with that I can see him retaining his full status and 7 making Bennett the alternate (he went from Thursdays in 2022 to Sunday VFL + AFL in 2023 to Saturday 2024 ~ which I see as lesser big/prime time games). They might make him being their main VFL & AFLW ~ which would be a big shame
If that is the case next year, and it feels like the most likely scenario to me atm, Bennett should move to Fox as soon as he’s able to after this season. Too good of a talent to only be calling the VFL and AFLW.
Tbh six commentators for three/ four matches per round seems like overkill to me. I think you could get by with four. Five may make sense if you have Darcy doing more special comments and just calling when required, but I just don’t see the need for six.
6 for 3 matches is fine imo because that way there is no double up and every match that 7 has in a round will have a different caller.
And will be different from Fox who will have multiple callers call multiple games since they will need to cover 9 games with their 6 main commentators from this year + 2-3 new (Wheatley, Hevrin (AFLW) etc)
