Yes there is, it’s a pretty significant way of what’s going on in the game. Fox has had it for ages.
I’d argue you only need the essential numbers constantly on screen - the time and the score.
Seeing the G and B totals after a score or at a break was frequent enough imo.
It’s a lot more useful than using that space to display the full team name, e.g. “WEST COAST EAGLES” which is what they were doing previously.
Good coverage on 7 last night
Fox did it last season, so that could be why 7 is also doing it.
I think it is informative and helpful as it is showing if a team has been inaccurate, especially if someone started watching mid match.
E.g 5.15. 45 vs 9.4. 58
No more ‘Roaming Brian’?
Obviously
Thanks for that. I was actually wondering if anyone might know why, coronavirus restrictions still maybe? The boom mic and distance wouldn’t work in the change rooms I guess.
It’s COVID but also when he would do it there would be some other guests in the change rooms etc- now there is only players and coaches. No presidents, no families, no partners, no kids, no friends, no celebrities etc
It will be interesting to see how tonight’s score bug will look like. Essendon colours (Red & Black) seems like they might clash not could be difficult to read
Exactly, a causal AFL fan with not much knowledge of the game might not quite get the importance but if a team has kicked 20 points and only one goal, it’s rather important to know that.
The in-ad-break scorebug during the AFLW telecast of Collingwood v St.Kilda is showing “ESS 0 HAW 0”. Looks like they have it set up too early for tonight’s game.
I’d say it will be black with white text. Same as the numbers on the back of the Essendon jumper
7 not matching the jumpers with the score in the AFLW today. Everything is black!
You were 100% correct
This was a disappointing oversight by the graphics team. Saints score box should have been white.
Interesting it’s on the main channel. Rare for 7 to be doing that into the Sydney market.
They’ve picked a cracking game to do so
