If Brisbane and Sydney somehow, against all odds manage to not choke during this finals series, they could be there on the last Saturday of September. Ratings won’t be too indifferent compared to last year and 2020 if the local teams get in.

The Bledisloe Cup match does not kick off until 5.05pm AEST when the AFL GF is in the final quarter, so the rugby should not affect the GF’s ratings very much in Sydney and Brisbane.

Well, they did broadcast Sydney Swans games live every Sunday from 1982 in the original VFL… and would have broadcast their games against the Bears and Eagles in 1987.

1988 then. But for VFA/VFL the only interstate teams have been Tasmania, Gold Coast and GWS (one year before AFL entry) until the NEAFL merger.
