Seven AFL Coverage

They didn’t launch any other footy shows this week, why would they start now?

The 9 Sunday footy show took a dig at agenda setters not airing

A lot of talk/callers on the new broadcast deal during this discussion just before, namely no Saturday on FTA.

Seven long-timer Matthew Richardson, also a long-timer on the panel/3AW Football, argued for his TV employer that they’ve instead got most rounds with a more premium Thursday night, plus a few Sunday night specials and traditional marquees like Anzac Day and DreamTime (this game will no longer on a Saturday though).

Cyclone Alfred aside.

Watching the AFL app replay I noticed that they have AFL logo for the replay instead of the 7+ logo we have seen.

So maybe 7 provides a world feed (like they do with BBL) and that’s what’s being uploaded to the AFL app replay.

Would be interesting to see what they do for Fox broadcast, I’m going to assume they would use AFL logo instead of Fox if they aren’t using 7’s logo for 7 broadcasts

That’s the same as Fox has done in previous years; the Fox feed has the FF logo as the wipe whereas the AFL/7 feed has a more generic wipe.

In Brisbane just as we heard “Footy is back” Seven went to a media conference on TC Alfred.

BT and Al Nicholson calling the GWS v Collingwood game.

So that’s two appearances for Nicholson this weekend, and nothing from Hamish or Jason Bennett.

Alfred always finds a way with blocking AFL :stuck_out_tongue:

not just Alfred; 7NSW went from the AFL to BH&G @ 4pm on the main channel.

Sydney simulcasted the AFL Pre-Game at 2.30pm, and the first hour of the game on Seven and 7Mate. Before going to the almighty important Better Homes and Gardens repeats at 4pm on the main channel?

Odd strategy there.

What appears to be a seemingly small media deal could have profound consequences. Three sources with knowledge of Seven’s deals with the AFL and Cricket Australia, speaking anonymously due to confidentiality requirements, say the broadcaster is contractually obligated to air the sports all over the country.

Seven and ADH are negotiating new content sharing agreements, but a key feature in negotiations is Seven’s need to continue broadcasting both major sporting codes.

“There have been preliminary conversations between Seven and ADH,” a spokesman for Seven said. “We are confident that a new agreement will be reached.”

Jack Bulfin, the co-founder of ADH, said his network was “keen to keep working with Seven West and all discussions with them have been largely positive.”

As with everything SEN produces

Hopefully it’s temporary until seven move to Collins Street.

Don’t understand why they aren’t using 7news studio.

Unless it’s a co production with SEN.

Might be. Hence why they removed the name Taking Footy
