Did 7 have their own call last night? The 7+ mini of the game is the Fox broadcast. Normally for WA games that 7 called they upload the 7 broadcast on 7+ mini
Yes Perth team
I wonder why the 7+ mini for last nights match is the Fox broadcast and not the 7 broadcast given all other 7 Perth matches have that highlights for the 7+ mini.
Also the Saturday rewind and Sunday Footy Feast used the Fox broadcast for the highlights when normally they used the 7 Perth broadcast
Only just finished before 6pm tonight.
Close game & I think think the 5min early start helped
With the AFL trialing state of origin next year in Perth, it makes me wonder if they stick with it, and continue to make it bigger, would it be something that 7 would want exclusively? I don’t think it would be anywhere near as big as the NRL one, but i could see it being a program that would rate 1million+ on 7. Would be interesting to see who goes for the rights after the Victoria vs WA game next year.
Legends Game for prostate cancer set to return to Seven
Hodge, Riewoldt, Rioli and Ablett Jr headline match on Seven and 7plus
After a six-year hiatus, the iconic Legends Game returns bigger, bolder and more legendary than ever on Thursday 28 August at Marvel Stadium, live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport.
Showcasing past AFL greats and fan favourites, the much-anticipated state of origin clash between Victoria and the All Stars carries the legacy of football legend E.J Whitten, who passed away from prostate cancer 30 years ago.
The fan-focussed feature event aims to raise much needed awareness and funds for prostate cancer through the Australian Prostate Centre, a world-class prostate cancer hub that brings together the best in care, treatments and collaborative research for Australian men and their families.
Leading Victoria as Captain is 7AFL Expert Commentator and Hawthorn legend, Luke Hodge, while AFL great and former 7NEWS Melbourne Sport Presenter, Tim Watson, will take the reins as Coach.
Representing the All Stars as Captain is 7AFL Expert Commentator and St Kilda great Nick Riewoldt, with Hawthorn icon and Seven’s House of Wellness co-host Shane Crawford set to Coach.
At a media launch event held in Melbourne today, both teams’ captains and coaches revealed their superstar number 1 draft picks for the match – Gary Ablett Jnr for the Vics and Cyril Rioli for the All Stars.
Seven Network Head of AFL and Sport Innovation, Gary O’Keeffe, said the return of the Legends Game will be a highlight on the AFL calendar, and offers ample entertainment for viewers.
“We are thrilled to see this iconic event return and for footy fans to be able to watch all the action live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport,” he said.
“To see a host of popular personalities, and AFL legends including our own Luke Hodge and Nick Riewoldt come out of retirement for such a great cause is important and will make for exciting viewing.”
Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Aussie men, with one in five estimated to be diagnosed in their lifetime. Funds raised through match will help support patient care and vital research collaborations at the Australian Prostate Centre.
SEN Chief Executive Officer, Craig Hutchison, added his organisation was proud to play a part in supporting such an important cause and iconic match.
“We’re incredibly proud to partner with the Australian Prostate Centre to bring back one of the most cherished nights on the footy calendar. With the support of the AFL, the Seven Network and our production team at Rainmaker, we’re set to deliver a spectacular event that entertains and inspires. And there’s some amazing further player announcements to come in coming weeks,” he said.

Legends Game for prostate cancer
Thursday 28 August, 7.00pm AEST live on Seven and 7plus Sport
Just realised that R23 has 2 Friday night games (7:20 & 8:20pm AEST). With 1 being 14th v 15th & the other being 8th v 2nd. 7 produced game is 14th v 15th.
Is there any chance that 7 is able to ‘Flex’ the later game as their produced game and give Fox an exclusive game as the earlier game is between 2 vic teams? The only thing that would need changing is maybe starting the game in Perth slightly earlier around 8pm (6pm local)?
I like your idea but regardless of ladder positions, Seven will always want Victorian teams over non-Victorian teams on their Friday night game. In this commercially driven environment, the ratings will not be as high with two interstate sides.
Maybe but it’s the second last round and it could be a crucial finals match. It could rate well.
I guess for 7, having that match air on 7 in WA & QLD + the currently scheduled match would rate better than just 1 match on 7.
7 wont care. The brisbane v fremantle game will air live on 7 in QLD and WA, with the other game airing live in the other states. They will have 2 games in the one ratings bracket and it should create pretty high ratings. More than usual as there will be a lot more people watching in QLD and WA
7AFL Kids Call returns for Round 19
Kids calling for kids for Collingwood v Fremantle clash, live and free on 7plus Sport
Following a spectacular 7AFL Kids Call debut on Thursday 22 June, Round 19 of the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership Season marks the second broadcast of the 7AFL Kids Call, live, free and exclusively streamed on 7plus Sport in Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia.
Led by Alex Kouts (12), Ned Bolton (13) and Indie Axup (16), the loveable young footy fans will once again present their own pre-game and post-match coverage, as well as full match commentary for the Collingwood and Fremantle clash at the MCG from 3.00pm AEST on Sunday, 20 July.
In a first for Australian sporting codes and supported by Nintendo, the 7AFL Kids Call is designed to attract younger people to 7plus Sport, while at the same time unearthing some of Australia’s youngest and brightest Australian football commentary stars.
Alex, Ned and Indie will be guided by seasoned caller Jack Heverin and current stars of the game Cody Weightman (Western Bulldogs) and Nick Larkey (North Melbourne) to give valuable insight and guide the young stars on gameday.
Alex, the 2024 AFL Auskicker of the Year, who takes huge inspiration from Bruce McAvaney, currently calls senior football in South Australia each Saturday, and will be based in the commentary box alongside Ned.
The son of current St Kilda Assistant Coach, Brendan Bolton, Ned has already shown a flair for his game day analysis and interviewing style through his popular “Roaming Bolts” series inspired by 7AFL’s Roaming Brian and produced by the Collingwood Football Club.
Indie will be back on deck to deliver all the latest news, interviews and insights from the boundary with coaches and players.
Seven Network Head of Sport – Digital, Kirsty Bradmore, said: “The first 7AFL Kids Call went incredibly well and the kids had the best time putting their own spin on gameday. Alex, Ned and Indie we’re absolute naturals at bringing their unique perspective, energy, and knowledge to 7plus, and we’re so proud of them.
“At Seven we are always looking for ways to create fresh and engaging content and to connect with as many audiences as possible including young footy fans and families.”
Following Sunday’s game, minis from the match will be available on the 7AFL Kids Call hub on 7plus Sport nationally.
This year marks the first time Australians can stream AFL footy for free on 7plus Sport and access an impressive array of new shows, offering footy fans incredible AFL content seven nights of the week.
Seven’s 2025 7AFL Kids Call Commentary Team
ALEX KOUTS – EXPERT COMMENTATOR
Favourite AFL team: Adelaide Crows
Favourite AFL player: Jordan Dawson
Favourite 7AFL commentator: Bruce McAvaney. Bruce has been my idol since I started commentating when I was eight years old. Some people even started calling me “Little Bruce”

Who do you think will win the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership? Collingwood
Who do you think will win the 2025 Brownlow Medal? Nick Daicos
NED BOLTON – EXPERT COMMENTATOR
Favourite AFL team: I’m torn between Collingwood and St Kilda. I barrack more for individuals and personalities in the game that I have connections with
Favourite AFL player: Steele Sidebottom, plus his player knowledge of boots is elite
Favourite 7AFL commentator: Bruce McAvaney. I also look up to Alister Nicholson as he loves cricket and football, like me. Brian Taylor is also a favourite and inspired my “Roaming Bolts”
Top four prediction: Collingwood, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide
Who do you think will win the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership? Collingwood
Who do you think will win the 2025 Brownlow Medal? Nick Daicos
INDIE AXUP – FIELD COMMENTATOR
Favourite AFL team: Collingwood
Favourite AFL player: Scott Pendlebury
Favourite 7AFL commentator: Abbey Holmes
Top Four prediction: Hawthorn, Collingwood, Brisbane, Geelong
Who do you think will win the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership? Collingwood, because they have a wide age range, have started well concerning injuries and have a fairly easy run home. They have experience with Finals and won the flag in 2023, so I think they have a good chance
Who do you think will win the 2025 Brownlow Medal? Whilst it’s a little too early in the season, I think Nick Daicos has a good chance to win the Brownlow. He plays a great game and is so impactful around the ball
JACK HEVERIN - CALLER
A rising star of sports commentary, Jack Heverin currently calls for Triple M Footy, Cricket and NBL. Career highlights include commentary of the AFL Grand Finals, Cricket World Cup and Commonwealth Games.

Great to see her back
“Brax”, really?
Brax stands for Braxton, Abbey’s son’s first name.
According to Kirsty Bradmore, Seven Network’s Head of Sport – Digital, the idea (of 7AFL Kids Call) emerged from a gap in the way sport is typically packaged.
“When we look at sport, we don’t really take into consideration the younger audience,” she said. “We just pitch it to an adult and expect younger people to be aware and accept what they’re being told.”
Bradmore said the project was born out of the desire to deliver something “bespoke” for children, “by children.”
“It felt as though there was an opportunity to create bespoke programming for children by children, which is what we’ve done,” she said.
(the article includes a link to YouTube highlights of the Kids Call of Bulldogs v Tigers)
Jack Heverin doing VFL for 7. He is also doing the kids call. Maybe 7 is looking at adding him for next year?
No Jason Bennett on VFL now for 2 weeks (he did call Sunday AFL last week). Theo Doropoulos did VFL call last week
Did 7perth do their own call for the Eagles v Tigers?
