SEN (Radio)

They are contracted with 3aw plus Hutchy hates them

Hutchy doesn’t hate them at all. But the relationship is indeed sour. More so the feelings of Ox & Marko towards Hutchy.

Hutchy actually wanted Marko to stay and do golf related programming and coverage but given the way their very public sacking from the drive show went at the end of 2017, they were both out of there quickly.

According to Sunday Herald Sun’s Tony Sheahan, Julian De Stoop is hot favourite to replace Bob Murphy in the drive slot, although Collingwood premiership players Heath Shaw and Dale Thomas (who co-host the Heater and Daisy Show on 7plus) can’t be ruled out.

I was thinking that tooo

Heath Shaw and Daisy Thomas would certainly be interesting.

Daisy is good on triple M, can do proper expert commentary but also have a bit of fun. Leigh montana is another one who can do both.

Personally I’d leave Andy Maher on drive, but have Daisy/Heath do Evenings including talkback after Friday Night games.

SEN always prefer more than one announcer at a time per show. Likely due to the lack of callers.

That’s likely the case for 1170SEN. All I ever hear are “text messages” constantly read out.

yeah probably sent in by SEN people lol

Being remote, close to population and small at that; the noise floor is much lower than large cities such as Hobart & the Gold Coast.

Also, older population & more likely to be an AM radio listener. Less choice & more likely also.

It’s normally by the same people too, I’d say they are actual listeners though.
They really need to get out and advertise that they are there. The fact they have Matty Johns on Friday’s and aren’t pumping that up is ludicrous.

What would you expect when they have close to zero listeners, particularly in Sydney.

Listening to 1170SEN Drive yesterday and the boys were somewhat dumbfounded how their podcast listenership had grown, but their ratings had fallen.

Maybe if GFK did all SEN surveys rather than just internal stats on downloads, there might be greater consistency.

Dwayne Russell and David King will host SEN 1116 breakfast from Wednesday to Friday this week (September 29 to October 1), while Garry Lyon and Tim Watson take a mini break.

Great news. Hutchison is trying to take over the media landscape in the same way Newscorp has. This needs to be stopped.

Ridiculous comparison.

While I’m not a massive fan of SEN, they’re hardly as dominant in their field as News Corp is at the moment.

Hutchison is trying to dominate the media landscape. Soon he will take over a FTA channel

That’s probably a good outcome for the station in the long run. It makes much more sense for RSN to be linked with Racing Victoria’s other media assets (like Racing.com) rather than SEN because of the potential cross-platform/synergy possibilities which the former will now allow.

I don’t think you know what dominate means? SEN is not it. Certainly not anywhere near the scale of News Corp.

And should he have the finances to buy a FTA channel. Firstly, good luck with that. And while I can’t see it happening, why shouldn’t he?

It’s called having scale, need to have that to be successful.
