91.9 Coalville, Vic must be the next licence on the target/sale list?

SEN updated their cover photo on FB with everyone that was in the previous photo but without Jack now.

I thought 91.9 was Kids FM? What’s on 91.3? Last time I was through Gippsland 91.9 was still Kids FM. Strong signal too.

I was just speculating on what could happen next given SCA’s past two recent sales of their FM HPONs - Toowoomba & 91.3 Leongatha to SEN.

When did you last hear 91.9 Kids FM from Coalville area? I’ve no idea what’s on there. Never been there.

Only last month. Children’s music and confirmed ID “Kids FM”. As I said, high power so I imagine SEN might be keen for it.

I never even realised Coalville had a HPON. It’s a sign post half way between Moe and Thorpdale (spud country). Why was it even licensed - can’t be more than 200 people. If you were trying to get elevation, I would’ve thought Mirboo North would be the go, as it is the top of the Grand Ridge (with a brewery to boot!)

I had a look at ACMA records & elevation map.
Seams they refer to the TX location as Driffield, but it seams to be on a high
hill east of Coalville.
I reckon with 1kW from there they probably cover areas like Moe, Morwell,
Churchill & Traralgon

Reckon he’s on leave. He hosted summer breakfast.

Drove through the Princes Highway again today. Tested 91.9, it had a clear signal at various times I tested from Pakenham to Sale. Must be a good transmitter location on the hill there.

I hope SEN actually get it now. No need for a Kids FM station… surely… haha

Late to the conversation. Who owns 91.9.

Still owned by SCA through Town & Coastal Broadcasters Australia Pty Ltd. They’ve held onto a handful of HPONs it seems.

VIC: 91.9 Latrobe Valley, 99.3 Benalla, 99.3 Euroa
QLD: 93.5 Sarina, 96.3 Proserpine

SEN Track on the Gold Coast is being switched out for SEN Gold Coast - retaining Queensland breakfast and some racing coverage, while adding in simulcasts of SEN Sydney.

I think this is a good move, definitely works better than the SEN track model I believe.
They should look at running a localised version if mornings because Matt White is very Sydney centric.
Why aren’t they able to broadcast all Titans games but they can do all suns games?

Maybe they should start promoting the fact this station exists?

It’s pretty much the only AM radio station “based” on the Gold Coast (all Commercial, ABC and Community stations are on FM) and a narrowcast at that. I’d say most won’t be accidently stumbling across it.

It’s probably due to the structure of the AFL (AFL Nation broadcasts every game somewhere) and NRL (NRL Nation only covers 4 games per round) rights agreements they have

Yep makes sense then. I thought they were doing local calls must’ve read it wrong.

Wonder who has left? Anyone know?

That’s if consumers’ AM tuner reaches 1620. Many stop at 1602.

Besides long time audience who are rusted on to ‘4QR’ on AM 612, most Gold Coast residents would only use FM.

The 1620 coverage is very poor on the Gold Coast owing to a very much sub optimal TX mast and design at the golf club in Miami.

They’re kidding themselves if they think there’s a huge audience finding them. Even amongst the high density structures surrounding their Varsity Lakes studios, signal is poor, especially so inside buildings.

This is clearly a commercial format on a narrowcast licence. Is this a test to see if they get away with it on the Gold Coast then convert their track format to commercial on the HPONs? Will the industry led ACMA allow this too?

Surely RadioTAB would have something to say as well.
