Well maybe the news only just reached Adelaide.
I wonder who’d be interested? Can’t see MMM or Seven being interested. Perhaps MSR or ABC
Be interesting to know what she thinks the other moves may be.

Was rumoured to be offered Mornings in Melbourne on MSR.
I can’t imagine MML giving dedicated Melbourne programming again given their current ratings.
And why would KB leave a higher rating station for MSR?
I can’t imagine why someone would stay at a place working a different shift to the one they want, especially when their drive ratings aren’t great to start with.
Why would KB stay at SEN when he can get the shift he wants elsewhere and probably call footy for someone with much higher ratings?
Because Hutchy’s a [insert insult here].
And he’s gone
And ouch!
And the last of the ‘original’ crew is gone…
Gee Francis didn’t miss either, and he’s right too. For all the changes Hutchy has brought in, little measurable progress has been achieved
Yep, Frank wasn’t my cup of tea on SEN but he’s got a good point above there being no actual movement forward.
In 2017, at least you knew who was on and when. Whereas now it’s all over the shop. The program formerly hosted by Mark Fine highlights to me exactly what is wrong with SEN. It’s filled with the cheapest person they can find, especially after Heverin is patched into whatever slot when someone else goes on holidays (admittedly, Fine was known to fill in for Bartlett). The place is a rabble but they’re too busy buying up little known radio stations with garbage spots on the dial in a move to go National with a largely Melbournite feel to it to notice that the audience numbers haven’t changed (regardless of Hutchison’s regular musings). May as well bite the bullet, start afresh and rename the place. Only thing of the ‘old’ SEN (outside of Maher and Hudson) that’s still there.
Below is an analysis of the last 5 years of ratings by SEN. Officially, Hutchy became a substantial shareholder of Pacific Star (PNW) on 29th March 2018, which means in the middle of Survey 3 2018. That provides one full year (ie eight surveys) of Crocmedia SEN.
The blue line shows SEN ratings by survey. Each year, Survey 1 shows a drop (presumably 774 is the go to station for the summer of cricket).
The red line shows the average rating for a year’s worth of surveys.
To be fair to Hutchy, he hasn’t done significantly better or worse than the previous year of PNW…however compared to the previous three years there has been a marked decline. Maybe without MSR, Crocmedia would have reversed part of the decline…hypotheticals - gotta love them!
SEN WA has Popped up on the SEN Website with Hutchy’s Crocmedia Expanding His Sport Radio Empire into Perth, is this Real?
He’s delusional if he thinks getting off band stations is going grow his network, how about focus on solidifying an audience for his main Melbourne station with huge audience potential. It’s like he’s playing fantasy radio league.
Absolutely delusional in buying off band stations. I get the underlying challenge - he’s buying national broadcasting rights for multiple sports and needs to defray the cost. IMHO, his best answer would be to enter an agreement with Macquarie to lease or buy 2UE and 4BH, including DAB access for SEN2 to cover less mainstream sports.
Exactly or licence the content to them, focus on content creation not broadcasting
Crocmedia has its first licence on the ACMA database - 1629 AM Hobart. It appears it will be prone to interference from the adjacent station.
That’s what the previous Crocmedia business was already doing (and still is doing btw). They wouldn’t have merged with PNW if they didn’t want to enter the broadcast game too.
@Rob_Melb_AU While not as good as a full powered commercial license, I wouldn’t think it’s “delusional” at all. See my previous post:
Seems that SEN could not wait for Kevin Bartlett’s departure. Yesterday he handed in his resignation with a month’s notice, today he was removed as co-host of afternoons, with Terry Wallace and Anthony Hudson taking the helm.
Nothing particularly unusual in that. I think the technical term is “going on gardening leave” while working out his month’s notice. Happens in other business sectors too
Except he actually quit the previous Monday, not yesterday. It was the story getting to the media that changed it.
Hudson is only temporary, and Wallace was only there subbing for Rothfield anyway. The new drive team will be announced shortly, all we know is that they’ll be cheap.
Maybe Marko & the Ox will return after they realise they have no audience at MSR.
