Only if it’s free.

Quite a boring range.

If they did one with the AFL Nation logo I might be interested, or the now-defunct NRL Nation logo. I did spot one of their commentators wearing an NRL Nation shirt in an SEN social media post a few weeks back!

They need polo shirts and caps. Also, where’s the giveaways? I’ve seen them out and about and they have f**k all. Not even a lousy sticker.

For the first time, I can just hear SEN Spirit 1494 Margaret River this morning. Just audible here in Bunbury. Seams very weak, maybe testing at the moment.

It’s running off the same mast (in Metricup) at the same 2 kW power [or that’s what full power is meant to be] as the existing 756 Triple M Busselton/“Cape to Cape” service, although at the other end of the dial I can’t imagine it’d reach as far as 756 - but that’d probably be your yardstick.

SENZ now taking an hour of Sydney drive 6-7pm NZT (cutting their afternoon show to 12-3 and local drive now 3-6).

Given the abysmal ratings last week, you wonder if this might be a sign of things to come.

756 Triple M Metricup is way stronger. Even Vision 1611 Margaret River gets out better into Bunbury. Ill post a spectrum graph and more detail over in the DX thread.

How long have The Coodabeens been on the regional SEN Track stations?

Fridays from 4pm, same as it is on 3MP and the regional Ace network.

Was listening to Matty Johns’ show today and they were talking a fair bit of cricket & soccer.

Certainly this year. I would have thought it would have been to fill in spots where ACE’s stations don’t entirely get in, but I can’t imagine that’s entirely right.

Yeah I still don’t get their business model…

Makes not a lot of sense in Australia, makes even less sense in New Zealand, where there’s essentially two companies running commercial radio…not like Australia where there’s the restrictions on ownerships per market. Finding a gap or even a niche in the NZ market not covered elsewhere is tricky, even if it’s not being catered for and when you can’t leverage off or utilise other stations in your portfolio, even trickier.

To outsiders like me, it just seems like their model is to spend, spend, spend, and nail down narrowcast AM frequencies that virtually nobody can listen to, oh, and buy some big market AM stations (2CH, 4KQ) and obliterate their audiences.

Given how much they rely on gambling advertising, and the likelihood of that becoming heavily restricted or even banned in the future, I would not be overly confident in the long term viability and sustainability of the network especially since they are seemingly nrunning at a loss as it is.

It would be a bit of a shame to see it fail though as some of the sports rights they hold are unique and something I enjoy (even if a bit niche). I would hope that things like EPL and NFL commentaries would end up on another digital platform (could be a good fit for Listnr as an example).

If I read the proposals correctly, it seems that racing stations and broadcasts would be exempt from the gambling advertising bans, so SEN Track might be the only real revenue source soon.

Which is also a huge part of the problem in SEN New Zealand’s model. There are no bookmakers allowed there, let alone allowed to advertise; the TAB is the only game in town - they did a deal for TAB sponsorship and to keep the Trackside simulcast on the app, but with no competition it can’t be much of a deal (beyond probably reducing the cost of handing over the Radio Trackside transmitters themselves).

How long do you people think it will last? Another year? Two? Or gone soon?
