The Head

The Head is a murder mystery like no other, a survival thriller set in the most remote place on earth. A puzzle box that will unfold in three separate timelines told through the conflicting testimonies of the last two survivors of an Antarctic mission. The audience will have to decide what really happened in the Polaris VI station during the winter and who they can trust to unveil the mysteries preserved by the ice. Shot in the Canary Islands and Iceland, it tells the story of a group of scientists stationed in Antarctica who are trying to fight climate change but stop communicating with the outside world.

The Killing

The Killing is an innovative thriller in 20 episodes from Danish Radio TV Drama. In the course of 20 gripping days we follow leads and observe the consequences of a heinous crime that seems to ramify throughout Copenhagen. It all starts when the head of investigations in the homicide department has her last day at work before embarking on a new chapter in her life. A normal family in the Vesterbro suburb is minding its business and contemplating moving to a different house when the parents are suddenly thrown into their worst imaginable nightmare. At the same time a top politician is involved in a ruthless but promising election campaign. They all become part of the same story as the police follow the leads. A homicide case begins and so does the hunt for the perpetrator. In the course of 20 intense days in November their lives change forever.

Transplant

A struggling Syrian refugee saves multiple people after a truck plows into a busy street café, using his skills and warzone instincts from this former life as a doctor. The series follows Bash, a man with an elusive past as he joins a team of doctors, challenged to make a place for himself in a new hospital and country. Dr. Bashir Hamed, a Syrian doctor with battle tested skills in emergency medicine, makes the difficult decision to flee his country and build a new life in Canada with his younger sister Amira. Bash works to navigate a new environment after earning a coveted residency in the Emergency Department of one of the best hospitals in Toronto, York Memorial.

Gomorrah

Friday 16 October, Italian, 3 seasons

The first three seasons of Italian crime series Gomorrah will drop on SBS On Demand on Friday 16 October. Based on Robert Saviano’s bestselling tell-all book, Gomorrah is the inside story of the fierce and brutal Neapolitan crime-syndicate, Camorra. The first season of Gomorrah was filmed over 30 weeks. 156 locations were used to shoot indoor scenes, and outdoor filming locations included Milan, Ferrara, Rome and Ventimiglia, as well as Barcelona. Season one of Gomorrah will also air on the SBS World Movies channel, premiering Sunday 18 October at 8:30pm.
