The Coronation day drew large audiences across the FTA networks. Seven won the night on network shares that included AFL on the main channel in Melbourne while ABC ranked second including a 8.1% share for ABC News. Nine was third including NRL on the main channel in Sydney and Brisbane with Nine’s main channel ranking second for the night. 10 was perhaps a surprise with its best share of the week since Sunday night and the network’s best Saturday share since 2021. SBS was uncompetitive with a main channel share below 2%,one of its worst result ever recorded.
Seven News was the number one program of the night with its highest rating Saturday bulletin of the year. ABC and Nine news results were down slightly on their usual results.
The result of the top 20 featured various codings for the coronation coverage. Breakfast TV was notably absent from the results.
Seven and 10 had minimal coding. ABC decided to break up the coverage into at least five segments. For Seven the two coding are obvious – before and after the 6pm news. Nine’s four entries are less obvious.
