In brief, that is the highest rating since 2016. Seven will be pleased with the BVOD rating of 655k.
Good result for NRL over 1.1 million.

Wow, was not expecting that after the blow-out, looks to be saved by bvod and a new AFL streaming record.
AFL and Seven will be very happy with the magic 6m+ reach and 4m+ average numbers. Imagine if the game had been close!
(2016 AFL GF reach was 6.5m).
It seems the Brisbane Lions winning and stories around that was the real winner, luckily.
A shame this came out so late, hopefully some reporting tomorrow. I see TVT and Sportsindustry (on X) have already posted it. Can’t see any media or mastheads yet.

These were the numbers for the cities according to TVT
In Melbourne there were 980,000 on linear viewing followed by Sydney (464,000), Brisbane (456,000), Perth (344,000) and Adelaide (300,000).
If this is accurate, @TV.Cynic how does Brisbane compared to last year given they lost a close match then

Interesting Adelaide and Perth enjoyed this year’s thrashing much more than last year’s thriller. Liked seeing Sydney and Brisbane/non-Victorian club like Collingwood? Great figures there.

Not sure what the weather was like last year, but yesterday when the Grand Final was on, it was cold, windy, and rainy here in Adelaide, so that may have been an influence.

@TV.Cynic , if you get a chance, could you maybe add 5 city data for the post-match, and maybe 6pm news?
Would be interesting to see how many in Sydney stayed for both. However, appreciate it does take time to create the tables, so understand if you would rather not.

First time in five years that the Melbourne audience for the AFL Grand Final dropped below the one million mark (thanks TVCynic and Sully). Maybe some viewers chose to live stream the match instead, or watched it in clubs and pubs.
