Rugby World Cup 2019

I would have thought that Georgia’s national sport was Rugby Union as de facto, though Georgia is not as competitive as the Tier 1 nations and not a lot of Georgians support RU.
Nevertheless All Blacks are a Number 1 sport in NZ due to their dominance and are No 1 in World rugby rankings.

Two group games this weekend (England v France and New Zealand v Italy) have been cancelled due to super typhoon Hagibis which is set to hit central Japan. The teams involved will each receive two points with the cancelled games declared a 0-0 draw. The draw will also snap the All Blacks’ 17 match winning streak at World Cup’s stretching back to their quarter-final loss to France in 2007.

The Wallabies’ clash against Georgia tomorrow night will go ahead as scheduled and will be shown live on 10 and Fox Sports.
It’s the first time in RWC history matches have been cancelled.

I looked at the Fox Sports 503 Guide and noticed that the NZL v ITA (Yokohama) and ENG v FRA Live matches were scheduled on Saturday. With severe Typhoon Hagabis hitting central Japan, the match won’t go ahead and the four teams will receive 2 points. I believe that 2 Live RWC2019 matches will be replaced by replays of RWC matches from the past.

Typhoon Hagibis continues to cause havoc at the tournament, with another match cancelled.

UPDATE: tonight’s Japan v Scotland clash will go ahead after venue inspections.

The quarter-finalists were decided with the end of pool matches last night. Australia will face England in the first quarter-final at Oita this Saturday (October 19) at 6.15pm AEDT. 10’s coverage starts at 5.50pm AEDT.

Also, there is another quarter final match for next Sunday - Wales v france at 6:15pm (AEDT) on 10 Bold.

Why would the idiots at ten call and host the first two games from Japan and then we get to the quarter finals and they’re calling it off a tv in a studio in Australia. Makes no sense.

I could understand pool games but not finals. You are right they are idiots. They were trumping that they were going to be live in Japan.

10 has Gordon Bray and Matthew Burke calling this evening’s quarter final between Wales and France, rather than using the world feed.

Will they be both calling in a studio or in Japan?

They’ve been calling from the studio the last two weeks and with Australian now out they’ll probably call the semi and final from the studio as well. There’s no interest in the tournament now anyway.

After the conclusion of the Saturday V8 SUpercars on the GOld Coast, Channel 10 will go straight to the Rugby World Cup Semi Final between England and New Zealand from 6:30PM (EDT). I guess that there will be News on 10Bold at 5pm Nationally.

Back in Japan calling and hosting from the venue. Bizarre.

DO you know who will Be commentating tonight’s rugby match from Yokohama?

It’s because the Sydney set is being used for 10Bold’s MotoGP coverage this weekend.

Sydney? I thought it was in Melbourne.

After the Gold COast 600 V8 Supercars race, Channel 10 didn’t crossed over to the Rugby World Cup match in Yokohama. 2 years ago, after the Gold Coast 600 V8 Supercars qualifying session ended, they crossed over to the Bledisloe Cup match from Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane. This year, they had the closing montage of the V8 race and then the TEN Sport popped up on my screen. Next, Channel 10 had the SPonsor billboard for the Rugby World Cup and then the intro montage to the England v All Blacks match. I couldn’t believe why they didn’t cross over to the coverage in Japan.
