Good luck to those people going “across town to Homebush” expecting to find a football stadium. It’s a good 40 mins walk from Homebush train station.
I’ve seen some people do that then wonder where the heck the stadium is! Can be confusing for tourists.
And that whilst Homebush is much closer to the geographical centre of Sydney, it feels pretty barren there being amongst all that concrete and not much else …
Moore Park venues have more of an atmosphere with the parklands nearby, being in a nicer area of Sydney and being closer to more venues in the city etc where you can socialise before and after the event.
I honestly would have preferred to see a 70,000 seat venue at Moore Park and spend very little at Homebush… But that boat has sailed.
I have not been to the SCG since the Tram is there, but in my view the big stadium should be there now you have the new Bankwest stadium. In my view for rugby league having a 25000 size stadium is big enough for most finals and premiership games. Like in England for grounds can be smaller for the cricket test matches but it adds to atmosphere in my view.
Nine and Fox Sports have agreed to a May 28 restart.
NRL television broadcasters Channel Nine and Foxtel have agreed to recognise May 28 as the competition recommencement date following extensive meetings.
“We were all united on the 28th May start. But just the competition structure, we need a little more time — but we definitely announce it early next week,” he said.
The competition’s 16 clubs have been told they can restart training on May 4.
How can the NRL contemplate restarting the comp when the players themselves can’t be trusted?
Test stars Mitchell and Josh Addo-Carr are being investigated by NSW Police and have been condemned by the NRL after being sprung camping in a big group.
Melbourne Storm’s Addo-Carr posted a range of photos and videos to social media, saying that they were taken on Mitchell’s property near Taree over the weekend. Another NRL player, Newcastle’s Tyronne Roberts-Davis, appeared in one photo.
In one photo, Mitchell and Addo-Carr are pictured with 10 other men, all standing close together in a group.
Im interested in seeing how this is handled and not just by the NRL
Probably just a slap on the wrist with a wet lettuce leaf.
They’ll probably all just get a fine for breaching social distancing laws.
Can’t imagine that the NRL will go any further than that.
These blokes are dead set fucking idiots.
- Breaking social distancing regulations (illegal)
- Riding unregistered motorcycles in public areas, not private land (illegal)
- Allowing an unlicensed person to shoot a gun (MEGA illegal!)
- Taking videos and photos of all of the above and then immediately posting it to Instagram! Seriously, how do people this stupid function in life?
- Trying to deflect blame by claiming they went up to Taree for a cultural trip, pissing off basically everyone for pulling a blatantly transparent race card
- Pulling another race card six hours after they ‘apologised’ by posting some meme claiming some false double standard (i.e. the white bastards at Coogee Beach aren’t being crucified, why not us?)
- One of them was given official police warnings TWICE already within the past week or two because they were lingering in a car in the inner-west of Sydney (I mean seriously, how the fuck do you manage that?!?), and, to top all of that off, was then caught driving an unregistered car!
It is just incredible how much of a train wreck these people are.
This could seriously fuck the NRL’s plans to return next month unless they make examples of them.
It means the NRL grand final will be played on October 25, a day after Australia’s opening game of the Twenty20 Cricket World Cup, scheduled to be played at the SCG.
If the cricket World Cup isn’t postponed or cancelled, it is expected the NRL will move the premiership decider to the 30,000-seat Bankwest Stadium in Parramatta.
Nathan Clearly said that the women who popped into his house were only there for a short time and he didn’t know that anyone had taken photos. Evidence indicates otherwise.
NRL players are idiots. Water is wet.
Yes, compared to the many other people who have had a pay cut recently (and stagnant wages for many years), rugby league players deserve no sympathy.
I wonder if police/DPP will prosecute for the lies (unless it’s perfectly legal to make false statements to police?)
As negotiations continue, it’s believed that Nine wants to pay the NRL $90 million instead of $118 million for this season, while it’s believed Foxtel wants to pay $160 million rather than $190 million.
Well we knew at least some of the players were revolting …
