Brisbane broke into programming
update:
ARLC have spoken with QLD Govt about getting an exemption to the 14 day self isolation to 7 days isolation instead provided everyone checks out as all clear they could move to North QLD and play the round robin conference style set up that has been drafted.
if that is the case then they are looking at rebooting from May 1.
I hope so, hope the world will be better by that time. I keep thinking this is a dream.
How fucking tone deaf can the game be?
What government would agree to that? 14 days is the world standard.
I’ve changed my mind on it, if everyone checks out as good to go then provides the players and staff and government are willing together with media then go for it, lockdown isolation round robin comp, since they will be in one spot it can be a random draw like the world cup soccer into 4 groups of 4 and top 2 go through to quarters with return games and then semis with return games and the double final over 2 games, that gives them potentially 10 weeks so into early to late June, once over they can play the origin matches in July and an international against NZ in August.
Of course being very optimistic in all this but it’s doable.
In times like this you have to think outside the box and the greater the risk the greater the reward.
Then again …
The Courier-Mail is now reporting Suncorp Stadium has offered to host multiple “Magic Rounds” when the NRL season resumes. The Queensland Government will close the state’s borders at midnight on Wednesday, but informed the NRL its players would be exempt from the 14-day isolation order if they continued to fly on chartered planes.

Pointless looking ahead when things could change by the minute. The NRL is still wallowing in denial about the severity of this.
As for the risk, it’s not whether or not it’s greater. It is uncertain and that’s the important part. Either the risk lowers significantly or it goes the other way. Good luck if they decide to reboot whilst the risk is high.
As much as I enjoy the NRL, it was a matter of time it followed suit and suspend the game until further notice.
Yes, weekends may be a little boring without the game, but they needed to do so.
I hear that Channel 09 are looking at filling the time slots with classic matches …
Just how far back they go into the archives is not known yet or who will host the intro/outro’s.
Now, that would be a good idea. Even if it is on a Friday night at 8.30pm, instead of an often-repeated-movie.
The 2010 Grand Final would be great. Have that in repeat on Nine. Go the Dragons
Fixed for you
Go Sharkies!!
haha, I had an inkling that you’d do something like that
2004 GF … Go the Doggies!
I have go back to 1986 GF for my team .
Although 2001 was a pretty good year any game from that year would be good except for the grand final.
You know it’s been a long time since the Eels last won a premiership when the captain of that winning game is someone who’s probably now more known for his TV commentary/coverage presenting than his playing career…
I know! I listen to Rex Mossop on 2ue, 2gb had Greg Hartley and Peter Peters back then. I think 2ky had coverage and of course the ABC.
I got a “radio highlight tape” of the first match at Parramatta stadium, I was at my auntie’s house for that coverage & I recorded 2ue. Just tried to record the tries. Very antisocial with my cassette radio in a room away from the birthday for my cousin. Parra won 36-6. My parents were not as obsessed with the footy as I was, otherwise I would of been there.
Being a big fan , in 1985 on 2ue I won 4 season tickets to the NSWRL season and also my parents got tickets to the 1985 grand final and stayed in fancy hotel in the CBD. Think it was an Omo washing powder packet (We did not use that brand of washing powders so twisted my mums arm) and enter a competition. Anyway , Gary O’Callaghan on 2ue read mum’s name out. Although the replay of the Grand Final of 1985 would not be of much interest for me it was certainly a memorable year which I went to lot of games . We don’t have these types of radio competitions these days. There should be.
Anyway more for the geek radio forum
They did!
Loved Hollywood (Greg Hartley) and Zorba (Peter Peters) and also Vince Sorrenti during prerecorded amusing insights on the happenings in the game.
WOW when 2GB ruled the NSWRL radio waves, then that auctioneer taxi driver with fake teeth and his cronies from the Daily Mirror took over around 1991 as Peters and Heartly had to go to 2KY .
Takes you back with that awesome theme music (I do not know the name of it), I know they brought it back to MMM when they did Origin in I think it was 96? or was it much later …
